I understand there may be a 12v socket in or on the center console of my 2024 4Runner SR5?
Can anyone confirm that? Looking to power up a dash cam.

Besides the one on the dash that Cptn SpauIding pointed out, have 2 at the bottom of the console in the 2nd row. 2019 TRD ORP. I think the 2020 and up now have USB's there? Mine also has one inside the console.

Does your dash cam take 12V directly or 5V USB power? There are adapters for tapping into the rear view mirror connector for a cleaner install. If you want the dash cam to run in surveillance mode while the ignition is off, you'll need to tap into the fusebox under the dash for constant power.

The fuse taps linked to above are not correct for use with the 4Runner. The 4Runner takes Low Profile Mini fuses.

    Look here.

Interesting. The image I posted was labeled as 2024. I wonder if the availability of a power outlet on the dash varies by trim level.

wouldn't surprise me, your photo is from a Pro so it could very well be one of those "you must spend this much to get ____ part that saved us 2 dollars" thing they like to do.

Nope, not on mine. It's a USB type power outlet, not a 12v cigarette lighter type

My 2024 4Runner SR5 only has a 12v plug under the arm rest.

In my ‘22 there is what looks to be a knockout to accommodate adding a 12v outlet in the glove compartment. I wonder if the ‘24s have that.

My 23 has that, the older 4runners came with a 12 volt outlet in the glove box

Do the ‘24s have usb-c on the center stack?

Edit: I would prefer to have the 12v outlet on the center stack. It can be adapted to USB-a, USB-c, and whatever comes next.

If there is power to your rear view mirror, than get this kit from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSPJTB3Q?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title. You have to check the pin connectors in your car to be sure you order the right kit, they vary depending on whether your pin connector is 10 pin, 12 pin, and maybe a couple other sizes. My '23 ORP is 10 pin. The kit includes USB adapters.

This vid clearly explains how simple it is to install. (They sell their own adapter which should work perfectly, but I ordered from Amazon to get fast delivery).
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCiGWb0tBFw

You have an SR5 so their probably are some differences, i.e. you probably don't have the offroad controls (crawl, terrain, etc.) that I have in my ORP, and it is possible you don't even have power to the rear view mirror, so check all that first before ordering the kit.

Also, my ORP has an optional accessory, which provides "dual power ports" (one regular USB port and one higher power USB charging port), and the higher power port is in the same spot where the 12v "cigarette lighter" port is shown in another member's car. Not sure if that means anything and possibly they just don't provide those 12 v ports anymore (except in the center console).

Why would you need a 12v socket in your glove box?
