I'm looking on Amazon at a RedTiber Dash Cam for my 2024 4Runner. Does the USB port
provide 5.5v or 1.5v needed to power this unit?

You can use a mirror tap instead of the USB. It will clean things up.

Did you mean this Red Tiger dash cam?
    https://amzn.to/3ZGA4gA

Looking at the video Amazon has it comes with 12v outlet wire and has a USB slot on top to power something else like charging a phone. IMO you should be able to install without buying any additional items. If you plug into the 12V socket in the center console box it's hidden, clean install.

Even though this dashcam is not popular, it seems to have the relatively new Sony Stavis2 image sensor.

Agree with this, this is what i did for my dah cam and radars in other cars and is by far the cleanest way to do this. Not 100%, but I believe i did the Blendmount brand.

I have Thinkware dash cams in all of my vehicles, I used fuse taps at the panel, dash cam behind the rear view mirror, run the wires along the base and across the top down to the fuse panel. The rear view was just as easy.

Thanks. I will look in closely at the center console box for a 12v socket. I don't want to start disassembling the wiring on my new (6months old) 4Runner and risk my warranty

Yes, "Red Tiger" dash cam. Drinking Jim Beam and typing makes my fingers go numb. Thanks for your help. I would prefer using a 12v socket to power the unit. I don't want to go digging around in my wiring on my newer 2024 4Runner and void my warranty. With a 12v option I can also use this unit on my RV when traveling.
