I’m in ft Myers Florida. Saw this on the rocks near a lake. We’ve seen these before in the water. I did a google image search but it came back as an Arizona rattlesnake. I don’t think it’s that

I know that snake. His name is Fred.

He likes sunsets, long slithers on the beach, and the occasional mouse-garita.

I recently found out Wisconsin has native rattlesnakes. Does florida have any of it’s own? The head on that thing sure makes it look poisonous.

Florida has several rattlesnakes, one being the largest of all rattlesnakes...the Eastern Diamondback, also the Timberback and the Pigmy.

I think the Pygmy is the smallest.

That’s what me and the wife thought. Though we are far from snake experts. I didn’t know if there was a native Floridian on this site who knew what it was

Snowbirds aren’t the only non-native species we have down here. Lots of released pet reptiles, so that snake could be from anyplace.

One thing for sure is that I wouldn’t test anyone’s theory that it’s non-venomous, unless they’re a herpetologist.

Amen to that. Yeah I’m not testing anyone theory that it’s non venomous. The bad part is that’s a honey hole for huge bass.its literally where I caught a 5 pounder two weeks ago.

It's a non-venomous water snake. He's there for the fish too.
