Passed 5000 miles

 

Picked up a new-in-box Toyota cargo cover off FB Marketplace for cheap, P/N PT311-89100, hecha en Mexico

 

Got the Sherpa rack installed a couple weeks ago. First picture I’ve taken… at the local Whole Foods

 

Relocated / rewired reverse led pods onto crossmember with mostly stainless hardware. Ditched the full-size spare for aesthetics.

 

Drove the 2011 to daughters house to babysit the grandkids.

 

Drove mine to the airport, spending the week in The Keys.

 

Be cool if you got beefy recovery points welded on and ditched the hitch. Looks good without the spare!

Delivered today from C4. Was a surprise as i received no shipping notice. Bumper is listed as "repairing to ship", we'll see if ole sandy gets it here for the new year. Notice the photo bomb... he's waiting for his presents from Sandy Paws.

 

Hey dude, the process was a little tedious.
I installed an aftermarket harness, switch, and relay kit.
Bought 14awg/2con. truck trailer wire (grey) from Princess Auto.
Installed 4RunnerLifestyle oem style dash switch. Harness wire travels up behind ebrake pedal, out of drivers firewall grommet.
Crossed rear engine bay poked through passenger grommet, dropped down and followed top of frame rail.
Got a combination of Deutsch connector leads & insulated crimp-on quick connectors to parallel wire to LED pod leads. Strain relieved/e-taped splice.

I wish they were Diode Dynamics.
EVERGEAR 6-LED 18w 1500lm/ea.

used Tremclad Rustpaint to spray rear body mounts and a couple things nearby.
used Rust-Oleum Specialty Hight Heat paint (650°C/1200°F) to spray chipping MBRP exhaust.
everything under rear bumper is fresh black.
ate Pizza Pizza.

 

Nice. Was looking at getting one but does it make a lot of noise if your driving with the rear window down? That was my concern & why I haven’t gotten one yet

Finally got around to installing the dual can roof mount today. With my ocd, I think I'm going to do a little leveling on it as it leans due to mounting on the cross rails. I made the paper sign to alert me that they are on the roof as I would be a dumas and drive into the garage one day with them on.

Yesterday was a storm and power was out for hours. Today there’s blue sky finally and a high of 42°F so on go the ARB skids I’ve had off for a while.

i did not tie the switch wire to the reverse light fuse, so just push button control only. works with truck off too

Haha, that ladder signage...I wish I did that with my 3rd gen with the Thule Cargo Box before I ground it against the parking garage ceiling!

Front Runner makes really nice gear, the fit on those cans looks perfect!

 

drilled new holes and took a grinder to the mounting brackets for my led reverse lights.
got the pods to tuck in pretty tight now.
40°F and finally mostly sunny.

‘16 camera ain’t great, wouldn’t say it has night vision - but apparently the 2020+ cams suck too.
turning on aftermarket lights dramatically improved the factory cam view on the screen though.

 

I had a local shop install balancing beads into my Falken Wildpeak AT4W's 275/70/17 (Load C). The balancing beads was the last ditch effort. The wheel balancing nightmare I've had is now finally over. Balancing beads actually worked. Not a single vibration at any speed 0-80. Long story short..After multiple traditional balances, road-force with match mounting @ Discount, Les Schwab, Firestone, three different local off-road shops and two Toyota Service departments, not a single "specialist" could balance my wheels.

The noticeable vibrations in the steering wheel always occurred between 55-70. The tires are not out of round, road force numbers did not exceed the limits for the tires. It was maddening. I also had Toyota service department diagnose suspension components, wheel bearings, drive shaft alignment, my RRW rims. Everything passed inspections. My ride is a 2023 4Runner Off-Road Premium with KDSS. 23k miles on it.

The shop I visited is called Tire Depot, in Beaverton Oregon off SW Baseline. These guys are open on Sundays. Cost me a 100.00 and took 30 minutes or less. I can't describe how I happy I am with the results.

 

Ride-On is installed by you. It serves two purposes. 1 If you get a puncture in the tread area (no side wall protection) it seals it.2 It's a viscous fluid the constantly moves when tire is rotating & does NOT scum up the wheel like slim. My 2014 New HD from dealer had ridiculous wts on front wheel & I ride mainly W.LH not on grip. the vibration was so bad I couldn't use that side mirror. I put the amount called for by tire size. Balanced, then I removed all the wts, still balanced, Swear by this product.

Interesting. I asked because the 3rd gen Tacoma got night vision in the backup camera in the tailgate handle in 2016:



The camera resolution is still quite poor, but night vision is fairly basic technology found in security cameras and handheld video cameras.
