Anyone put subwoofers in the back?

Nah. I like to save that space for useful things like coolers, tents, gear bags, and maybe even a cornhole set. I can even sleep back there if the weather gets too shitty.

 

That looks like a nice setup!

I had a 12" Pioneer sub in a sealed homemade box in my '94. It never got installed in my '03, or my '19. They take up too much space for my use of the 4Runner.

 

Yes I have a 10 inch powered Rockford Fosgate, Does the job and takes up no room.

 

I like these two:

1) Goes over the left wheel well:






2) Goes under the passenger seat:















This won't take up any cargo space in the back and gives a very OEM/Stealthy look, which is what I strongly prefer.

 

The OEM audio sub is nice but how to get to the jack/ spare tire tools?

Okay, so I forgot the jack tools are in there. You can easily re-locate them to a bag attached to a MOLLE panel or under the rear seats. If you only have the left sub and the right side is open, move the tools there.

Still though I've considered that setup before since it doesn't take up too much space.

 

But can the rest of the world hear your bass? Because if I'm not annoyed from three lanes over, is it even bass?

Dual OEM Audio +. I wish there was more bass though but I also don't want an intrusive box just sitting there.

For daily driving, this my set up. For cargo duty, it does have a plug so it comes out.

 

If I was going to do it (and found a suitcase full of money), I'd do this. Sort of like what I had in my 350z which was a good way to get subs in there but still have some space to put stuff. Grills would be mandatory.

 

yeah my son has a set up like yours, in his 4Runner. he and his brother are Skar fans also

I put the subwoofer in the back, it seemed too cumbersome to haul on the seat, then when we got to my friends' house we unloaded it. Seemed to work, hauling it in the back.
