The number one thing that Jeep is attacked on is death wobble. But people don't realize that the 80 series had it, the HD trucks have it, Jeep just made it famous lol. The front solid axle does that. If you don't use quality components in your front end and don't constantly inspect them, it can happen

I've owned or daily driven them both (Wrangler not Gladiator), at the same time. I drove a JLR to work daily, and a 4G and 5G 4Runner when I got home. I picked the best tool for the job on the weekends, based on comfort or the need for a rugged 4x4.

I sold my last JLR (owned two of them) and now just drive the 5G 4R. I have to pass up a lot of trails, but I drive around in comfort all the time now.

The 4R is about 70% as capable off road, stock vs stock, but it's more comfortable 100% of the time. That's my opinion having owned two JLR and two 4R at the same time, and driving difficult trails.

If you only drive easy to moderate trails, there's probably not much difference off road. If you drive moderate to hard trails, there is a world of difference, just as there is with comfort.

I've owned TJ, XJ and JLR and no Jeep product has been better or worse than Toyota in quality. They're just different.

I believe SFA is going away if Jeep wants to stay competitive. They have already lost ground to the Bronco. Those Bronco Raptors are no joke

You're right, and in fact Ford has a recall associated with it on trucks.

We have a 4Runner and a Gladiator Rubicon. I bought the JT at a very good discount last fall. It’s been a good truck so far. It’s fantastic off road and is still stock. So far so good.

I will say neither the 4R nor JTR is coming away with a land speed record anytime soon.

Honestly, the removable top is one of the things I find most appealing about a Jeep. 2 door Wrangler would be my choice, though. I would want the hard top, but with a soft top for summer.

I most likely wouldn't do trail runs without the top, though.

Actually recent sales figures show the Bronco is losing ground to the Wrangler. The initial excitement seems to be wearing off.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/new...les-slip-far-behind-jeep-wrangler/ar-AA1uxc14

    "Bronco Stumbles Against Jeep Wrangler

While the Bronco remains a popular choice, its sales have noticeably cooled in 2024. Over the first nine months of the year, Ford sold 76,948 units of the off-roader, marking a 15.9% decline compared to the same period in 2023. This puts it significantly behind the Jeep Wrangler, which moved 113,078 units during the same timeframe."

    Agreed.

I was really thinking about getting a Wrangler a few years ago. The biggest factor that turned me away was the small interior. I know the 4 doors are probably pretty comparable to a 4Runner, but I'd only want a 2 door.

I test drove one, and my only real complaint would be the wind noise. But, that's just part of having a removable top.

I think the Wrangler looks better side by side with the Bronco, and I think the Bronco’s styling is aging sort of quickly. I think the Jeep is in an enviable position because it’s not really going to ‘get old’ style-wise. That’s one thing their designers nailed - it looks like it should look.

I'm hoping they offer a SFA on the next generation Bronco, make it more like the Grenadier!;)

Yes a modern jeep drives just fine on the highway. I had a Sahara 4 door as a rental and it was just as comfortable if not more than our 4Runner. Much nicer than I expected.

Removable top on a wrangler? yes. On a pickup truck? Hell no.

I like the way the tires stick out of the body in a Wrangler. I know it makes service a pain in the butt because Jeep engine bay is super crowded, but it does wonders when it comes to offroading. Looks very cool too

I will keep you guys busy here when my TJ build is complete and when my GX arrives. The job of the GX would be pulling for thousands of miles, that's why I'm so obsessed with finding the best oil. I'm keeping it 100% stock except ko2s. It is a lovely vehicle, I don't want to change it

Yeah, but I want an SUV, and a Lexus. Don't underestimate this new GX, it is a heavy Pig and can pull A LOT.

HPL has a very good customer service. I wrote an email to them and asked them what they recommend for the GX. They replied HPL Super Car 0W-30

Folks, by the way, if you want to build a little off-roader and want a sweet motor in it, the 2.8 l Cummins diesel crate motor is the way to go.

Why so definitive? I have a 1929 Model A roadster pickup. It’s pretty darn fun to drive. (Not much towing capacity. ;))

I don’t have a photo handy. But it looks a lot like this:

What? You don't want an ugly truck that sucks at pretty much everything besides off-roading?

    :crapstorm:

Edit: sorry, it also sucks at off-roading until you throw at least $5K at it. :stirthepot:

I would love to have a J10. Especially one like the truck in Twister.
