    This is the waterline
    4ECDE33F-8959-469A-8A56-93B2E8EC3C46.jpg

The alternator stayed dry at least. I’ve got relocated rear diff breather, but I should probably still change out the gear oil.

I’m still hosing out the inside of the frame rails. I put a ton of water through them earlier this week, and did a second round today because there was still a bunch of silt in there. I seem to have finally gotten clear water draining out, so hopefully it’s washed out! And that was only the drivers side rail! Hopefully the other one is cleaner lol

2 jeeps came along and pulled me like 6 inches. Then I drove out on my traction boards I was digging in. Muck is bad and very heavy.

Nice! Did you go to Oz specifically for the 4wheeling?

No, I was there on business. The rest was just incredible kindness from the members of Overland Bound Queensland. Here's a video telling the story and showing the trip. Remember, these people didn't even know me yet one of them insisted I drive his rig. I'm still astounded by their kindness.

Out of curiosity have you cleaned under skids? I try to avoid mud when possible due to hours of cleanup. Haven't hit anything like that since I added skids and wondering how much gets up in there.

I have the 4xinnovation skid system. As you can see, it’s pretty epic, but it does not do a good job and draining out silty muddy water.
    BF3DD6B8-9378-4AA3-8414-DB49265D87D2.jpg

Actually, it almost acted like a filter for that stuff. They’re a pain to take off, but it might be worth it next time because they were pretty packed and a pain to hose out.

    OEM skids aren't much different.

Depends on the real estate they cover. If it’s RCI plates that only go to the back of the engine, then similar, since they are a little narrower than stock. The 4x innovation plates are much wider, and go all the way past the transfer case. Way more area, mud, and headache. Slowly, I’m getting a distaste for mud lol.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant in terms of mud collection. I just pulled mine down tonight, and despite a couple good washes, Sherlock Holmes could still easily deduce where I went wheeling.

I took my first Colorado trip this last summer and I still can’t get it out of my my head. What an absolute blast, and spectacularly gorgeous. Did the alpine loop, half of it at night (not on purpose). Loved engineer, hated the drive into Lakeland afterwords though, the surface was horrible and annoying. Loved Imogene. Loved the air. Just all around lovely! I can totally understand why people go there to get a minimum wage job and bum around.

We have some great wheeling here in the southeast, but I will never forget renting a Jeep on two separate occasions out west. Once to drive Shafer Trail at Canyonlands and the other to cross the Continental Divide at Georgia Pass. It’s also why I plan to take a trip out there in the next year or two.

I almost had enough time to head out to canyonlands when I was in colorado. Thought better of it because the of the timing being a bit tight. Rush out to utah without much planning, or take an extra day or two to do some quiet dispersed camping in the san juan mountains. I chose camping and glad for it.

Next time I’ll definitely be planning things out for a ride on the white rim or schaefer canyon
