Our trip from NM to Pennsylvania and back this year was uneventful with no problems at all. We took about 5 days to get to Pennsylvania arriving on October 10th at our cottage in Williamsport, Pa. For the next month, did lots of repairs and painting to the cottage. The weather was unseasonably warm and dry this year, but, we saw the fall colors from beginning to end. We rode the train to the town of Jim Thorpe through the LeHigh Valley seeing the spectular colors along the train tracks. Way too many tourist in the town. We left Pennsylvania on Nov 25th and spent 2 days in DC at our daughters apartment over looking the Pentagon. Then we all ( daughter, son in law, wife and me) Drove to Charlottesville, Va to look at property for my daughter. We stayed at the Boar’s Head resort in Charlottesville, which is super huge and fancy for 2 days leaving on Sunday to head back to NM, a 4 day trip along the southern route through Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. We were pulling a small 5x8 trailer on this entire trip and in the eastern states we were getting 12 to 14 miles to the gallon. When we made it to Louisiana, it picked up to 13 to 15 mpg. Most of the time gas prices were below $3.00 a gallon, the lowest price was $2.14 a gallon at a Love’s station in Texas. We did stop at 2 Buc Ees gas station just to check out how big they actually are. We are finally home in NM getting ready to drive to Ca for the holidays.

I'm so glad you got to experience Buc-ee's. It's like Disney World for Texans! I hope you got some fudge of beaver nuggets.

I’ve never heard of Buc-ees, will have to google it.

Fill up on gas before you cross over to CA. Gas prices here is closer to $5/gal.

Buc Ees are huge gas stations that sell everything you can dream of. There were hundreds of people shopping in the one in Tennessee.

LOVE Williamsport! Used to live in Honeoye, NY and always drove through Williamsport trying to get to 81 South to go to our vacation home in NC. Precious little town along the Susquehanna River. Miss the area greatly!

Jennyjo14, our little creek (Loyalsock Creek) feeds the mighty Susquehanna River. Our cottage is right on the creek about 9 miles from Little League World Series Park.

It's fun to read a road trip log! One of the great joys of the 4Runner is "boring road trips" because there are no problems. That cabin and creekside view look beautiful. What a great trip!

Going to Pa we drove 2393 miles. While in Pa (month and half) we drove 2874 miles. From DC to NM we drove 2449 miles.
Total 7716 miles. We are still figuring out the mpg, but, we were pulling the trailer, so, probably around 15 mpg.

15mpg without any hassles is money well spent! I'm sure there were a lot of smiles in the miles, which is all that really counts, right!? haha. My wife and I bought our 4runner in 2021 and within the month had driven from KS to OR then WA and back to KS, camping most of the way. Did about 6k miles in the end and had the time of our lives.

Jstam316 as with all trips, there was a lot more going on during our 5 days drive to Pa and our 4 day drive to NM. We make this trip every year and we always hope the trip is uneventful. We always take a different route in our travels so we see more of the US and we try to travel the back roads as much as possible. Nothing better for me than an old abandon farm with an old barn.

Jstam316 do you live in Ks. I was supppsed to end our trip in Liberal, Ks for the NAFA meet and a couple days of pheasant hunting. But, I hurt my knee and could barely walk, so, came home instead.

Yes, I live in Kansas. Many of my family are originally from the area surrounding Liberal. Keener and Day are their last names. My uncle Mike leads a lot of pheasant hunts out there. Bummer about your knee. I hope that heals up right! That's great that you two always take a different route. And seriously truer words can hardly be said "Nothing better for me than an old abandon farm with an old barn."

That’s a nice area of Pennsylvania. I went to the little league World Series this past summer and rented a house a couple towns north of there.

Turd Ferguson Our cottage is an AirBnB when we are not there. We rent it out during the Little League World Series, but, we keep our prices reasonable.
