Hey all. I'm having trouble diagnosing the root cause of a front-end knock right now. The sound is coming from the undercarriage + left and right wheel well. It doesn't occur over big bumps; it happens more under high-frequency unevenness on the road from 5-40mph.
I've had a reputable shop retorque all suspension components, but I still can't figure it out. It happens under braking, going down parking garages, and even over thicker painted lines. However, it doesn't knock with speed bumps, driveway entrances, or big bumps. Any input would be appreciated. 2H vs. 4H didn't make a difference.

The truck's got ~43000 miles, with the stock pro fox suspension. I don't feel it in the footrest, brake pedals, or steering wheel, just hearing the knock.

The video shows me going over some road imperfections at around 7 mph.

I would check skid plate bolt torque - that was my issue. Upon other recommendations I also checked the hood latch and greased it to rule it out. May want to check that as well

Yea I'll take a look at the hood latch, but the shop took the skid off and put it back on, so I suspect it isn't that. I'm wondering if it would be something steering rack related? Just based on how it's mounted. Weird thing is it happens on very small unevenness, I wouldn't even call it bumps.

A few things to check because you never know

When did you notice the sound? Was it after a service?

Is your tire pressure set correctly?

Is there anything loose is the cabin that could explain the sound?

Open the sunroof to see if the noise goes away.

Turn out the rubber bumpstops on the hood to preload it a bit. Note their original position so you can reset them if it’s not the problem.

    Are the wheels torqued properly?

Do your fox shocks have the TSB for noise?

Definitely some great ideas here I’ll check for tmr. Could you talk a little more about the TSB for fox shock noise?

Did you add recovery points to the front? I kept hearing noise drove me crazy. Ended up being the shackles bouncing around

It looks like the truck had the pre 2021 PRO shocks on it for some reason (even though mines a 2022), and that’s what’s making the clunking noise. I’m going to call up my dealer to see if they can get it replaced under the TSB.

I suspect the previous owner took the sold the stock shocks and when it came time to sell just bought the cheapest set from fb.

SOLVED: I hope this can help others in the future.

The culprit is the front OEM TRD Pro FOX shock absorbers (PTR89210, found on MY21 and MY22 Pros). Took the car to the dealer and told them about the issue, took the tech on a test drive, and showed him and the service advisor TSB-0094-20. They agreed my issue was the same as the one described in the TSB. Unfortunately, the TSB didn't cover MY21 and onwards (I have a MY22). Luckily, my car is a CPO and the warranty took care of it, otherwise it would've been $3k+ out of pocket. The dealer replaced them with PTR89240 (found on MY24 Pros), and the knock is completely gone.
