I have a 2109 4Runner and love everything about it. I have a lot of CDs that I ripped to MP3s and put into folders by artist and album on my computer. I formatted a USB drive to FAT32 and transferred several music folders onto the USB drive. I am able to browse all the songs but all the songs are mixed together from the folders. The Artist and Composer options do not appear to work either. I am hoping the smart people in this community have a solution or work around.
    Thank you in advance.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

How many folders? How many files per folder?

I have my USB setup this way too, and I have three folders and 399 or less files per folder. I think that's the max. I also used an application called MP3 Tag to fully label them. It's a free app if you're interested. After I was done putting in the Genre, Artist, Song, etc.. I was able to highlight them all and then number them.

I have my radio set to "Folders" then I set it to "Random". So it randomly picks a song from any folder.

    Hi Borracho Loco,
    Thank you for responding.
I have probably 500 folders of music. For example I have one Aerosmith folder with 5 folders inside that folder for each album. When I had my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, it was able to read the folder structure but apparently the 4Runner cannot. So, is the only way to get these to work with the truck is to update every file. That can take a looong time.
How long did it take you to complete that task?
    Thank you so much.

I know there's a limit for how many files you can put in each folder, and I bet there's a limit how many folders you can have. My recommendation: Make 3 or 4 folders. Folder 1, Folder 2, Folder 3, Folder 4.

Then, sort your list of music alphabetically and put up 399 files in each folder. For example: Folder 1/A-Fa Folder 2/Fb - La, etcetera.

That's how I did it and it took about 5 mins.

Thank you. I downloaded MP3 tag and trying to sort through how I would do this. I guess I have more than I thought..hahaha. I have 7357 music folders which contain 67686 music files.i guess this is going to take a while since i want the same structure as what is on my computer.

    67,686 / 399 (files per folder) = 169 folders.

Yeah, it'll take you a few hours to clean it all up. It's very easy to do, just tedious. Once it's done it'll be easy to maintain, organize and sort. Good luck!

Thank you very much. I guess I know what I will be doing for the next week. I appreciate your time. NCH software also has a product called switch and I am looking if it can do batch files. Have a great holiday!
