Got it...Instead of top install over struts.....it's more work like replacing new springs.....

And less stress on the strut and better ride quality. Not a fan of big top hat spacers, shims are one thing but those big spacers are just not my thing. It's actually very easy to disassemble the strut right on the truck. Check this out, works like a charm.

LOL.....Not a safe job without proper tools.....I would not take the chance without a sufficient compressor...IMO

The weight of the truck is more than sufficient. Been doing it this way since forever. Never an issue and if you look at the suspension even if the jack was to fail there is literally no where for the spring to go. The shock is still bolted in place and cradled by the upper control arm. IMO there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. I've been a mechanic for 20 years and I've installed more lifts than I can count. I guess this kind of stuff just doesn't phase me anymore, not much does though lol.

I guess the youtube guy just doesn't want a lawsuit on his hands when someone with no business working on vehicles ends up hurt lol. There really isn't anything wrong with the no spring compressor method though as long as you're careful like anything else.

So why not just set the clip at a higher setting rather than put that thick spacer on the bottom?

Edit: He makes it confusing when he says you don't need to move the clip up or down, but after re-watching it looks like there isn't a higher setting. Is that correct?

That is correct. The OEM Pro Bilstein shocks have 2 clip settings. Top one for the DS, bottom one for the PS, and it sits perfectly level.

I’m running a 3” Ready Lift it was less expensive than some of the others. I was going for more looks rather function as I don’t do any off road stuff except for snow in the winter.
The vent visors are AVS off of Amazon.

Added the 4 Channel Amp to drive all the door speakers and also an audio video to mirror my Iphone X Plus

Wow...what a big difference from stock to upgraded speakers and now adding power to push them....The video input allows for a front camera or mirroring from Iphone...Probably won’t use the phone much bc my Phone screen is far superior to the stock deck’s resolution..,lol

I’m guessing somewhere in North Carolina. I’ve been seeing a lot of pics coming from that area with significant amounts of snow. Most people that live in snowy areas don’t usually post pics from it. If it hits in areas not accustomed to it, they post pics.

Everyone boasts about the great weather in CA but they fail to omit that you’ve got to drive hours to get to any snow. And when you get there...it’s a cluster.

Bingo! Yeah we got hit with 13 inches and we get snow just not this amount all at once. This place shuts down school if we get 1/8" of snow. I grew up in the snow so I always go for a drive in it whenever I can. People here for the most part have no clue how to drive in this stuff. It was a very entertaining day.

    Nice my friend......
I lived in Iowa/Arkansas for a bit when I was very young. I love the snow but have not been back since CA is my kind of weather....lol

Funny you say that like others that move here. My Detroit co-worker hit the ditch twice this weekend in Charlotte. I drive a 2 wheel Jeep truck to work most of the time loaded up in the rear, why? primarily due to other drivers. So my point is not all bad drivers are from here my friend, and NC snow (with normally a sheet of ice on top or bottom) is not your normal snow. Glad you had fun though....Be safe and enjoy the crazies wherever they are from. :)

I didn't say everyone and didn't mean to come off arrogant. In fact there were quite a few Jeeps out having fun with me. An disaster can strike at any moment. But for the most part it's like people don't realize they can't drive like it's 65 and sunny out while driving in a snow storm. I also think they don't realize they have to stop before it's too late. It's easy to get going in the snow and ice but stopping is another issue all together.

I fully understand and didn't think your were arrogant. I work with people from the Northwest and Detroit area that are the "experts". Eventually they all learn to drive in our snow. And I totally agree we have our share of idiots.

That's funny. Karma finds everyone even the "experts". It was just amazing how people were driving yesterday. So many cars in ditches. One thing is for sure, our 4Runners are like snow machines, love this thing.

I need to do better at taking pictures before and after, but here goes the latest...
    • Tried the Revtek rear mud flap deletes. Didn't like the resulting road spray all over the back glass in rainy conditions. Took them off, put the factory mud flaps back on.

    • Installed my Expedition Essentials T4RPAM and used it to be host to a Mob Armor mount for my iPhone, an Astatic external speaker for my Ham radio, the control unit for my Kenwood TM-D710GA Ham radio, and a few open spots for another Mob Armor mount for my wife's phone or maybe a tablet for Gaia GPS use. We'll see which.

    • Installed my Switch Pros SP9100 system and SDHQ mount for the SP9100's control panel. Wired up my Baja Designs Squadron ditch lights.

    • Received my Icon 700lb springs for my CDCV front coilovers.

    • Received my ComeUp 9.5rs winch

    • Received my Baja Designs S8 20-inch white combo LED bar

    • Waiting on my SSO slimline bumper.

I hope to be wrenching and installing parts over Christmas break. :)
