27k miles, decided to grease the driveshaft. Meant to do it at 25k, but such is life. It's a PITA.

Also installed these shims for the splash guards because the drivers side sounded like there was a rattlesnake in the wheel

 

the wife has not been asked, but it’s happening! Lol

 

Installed SS3 fog lights. The stupid plastic cover over the right one was hard to remove.

Surprised the kids and lit up the 4Runner before we headed over to the neighborhood tree lighting.

 

I’ve been meaning to source 1/16” black tile spacers just for this. The U shaped ones should do the trick.

 

When the parts you want are out of stock in Japan, so you overnight them from... London. Replaced the wiper arms rather than trying to paint the old ones. P/N 8522135160 (driver) 8521135160 (passenger), and 8529213010 x2 (cap):

 

Is there a hack or mod to make the wiper heater/defroster be able to be set ON so that on the next start of vehicle it comes on automatically? Ie turn it ON, shut vehicle then next am remote start it and their on.

Would it be as simple as replace the switch with a ON/OFF one? Vs the OEM timed switch.

So you had eibach stage 1 and now stage 2? Do you notice a difference?

 

Just did the test drive to check ride height. It will be awhile before i put it through its paces.

 

120k mile oil change. 45°F today. Probably the last warm-ish and dry day I'll see for a while.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before. Using a floor jack to position the heavy-ass aluminum skid makes things much easier while threading in the bolts!

 

Installed a Matterhorn fairing on my Pro roof rack. I still have some center mounting work to be done but I have some ideas.

 

That’s a good deal. I paid around $28 a gallon a couple months ago.

 

I did threaded insert mod, makes hanging the skid plate so easy its fun.

 

@Charlievee can you expand on that? I’m getting too old to hold the skid plate up with my knees…

 

Yeah this pricing is interesting. I recently bought the pink stuff as well. I price checked at a local dealer online but they're about 8 miles away. $22/gal. I figured I'd check the dealer around the corner from me. They no longer sell online but had good prices when they did. $34/gal. Pass. Made the 16 mile round trip so probably burned a gallon of gas which around here is $3-ish. Irritating.

 

@dgrenier15 Are those OEM plugs installed in your frame? Or something you did? Can you share some information?

 

Use a floor jack . Makes it easy to mount or unmount the TRD skid .

According to my 2010 wiring diagram and FSM, the pushbutton switch has no timer function. It's just a momentary pushbutton switch that sends a brief 12V logic signal to the A/C "amplifier" ECU to turn on the deicer relay. The A/C ECU subsequently provides a ground to light up the LED on the pushbutton switch. An on/off switch replacing the momentary switch likely won't work. You'd have to wire in a separate switch to provide a ground for the deicer relay, schematically like this:

I think it was "Saker", here or the other forum that came up with it. Essentially installing threaded rod in place of the bolts, skid plate slides right into place and held up with acorn nuts... ... I thank the man every time i pull the skidplate.

 

That's definitely a nice price you got. I just have trouble understanding the discrepancies in both price and shipping from one source to another.

 

Maybe a separate relay to momentarily send that 12v would work? The power source would have to be something that's hot as soon as (or shortly after) the vehicle starts.
