Hi - I have a 2006 tailgate window that is stuck in the down position- front panel switch and rear key are not able to raise the window and the window lock button is not depressed. A couple of days ago the rear tailgate window started malfunctioning - went down on its own, was able to raise it but then it stayed down and is unresponsive to front panel switch and rear lift gate lock controls - rear tailgate wiper is actually able to function which is a surprise. I took of the liftgate panel and could see with a multimeter that there is power going to the regulator motor but am stymied how to get the window raised to get access to the bolts needed to free the regulator and regulator motor. Is there a way to raise the window manually?

Have you tried via key in the rear hatch to try raising it? This happened to me last year and I swapped the motor and it's been great since...I did the same thing measuring voltage which I had, but the switch wasn't working...I trusted the key in the hatch and got it to raise for me to complete the repair... which took W80 min start to finish...

Hi LOSTR4, I certainly tried the key in the hatch along with other attempts to get the window to raise even trying to jumper a car battery to the motor with no movement(sad). Sounds like you ended up replacing the hatch window motor that is attached to the regulator? I'd like to attempt same but am stymied trying to get access to the motor bolts as I think the window needs to be partially up. Still Looking for ways how to get the window partially raised if the motor is not working! Thanks all!

Check your battery. Wonky symptoms like this often turn out to be battery issues.

Hi Bluesky 07 - thanks for the reply - you remind me that one of the posts suggested to reset the hatch ECU which I want to try before anything else!

Thanks to all who replied to the 2006 V8 TR liftgate window issues I was having. Wonky is right and Problem solved!!! It turned out that a reset of the liftgate (back) ECU by pulling and reinserting the 10 amp fuse in engine compartment fuse box was all that was needed to get the liftgate window to roll up! Phew - that's a relief!
