Anyone recommend a reliable engine rebuilder for the 3VZE engine in a '95 4 Runner? I'd like more than the stock 150 HP. Raptor or EPM in Portland, OR advertises a 190 HP with different cam grind and oversize valves. They don't have any good reviews. Thanks for any help.

I watched a YouTube video about someone that was not impressed with them. I couldn’t find it again it was at the bottom of an endless scroll. They said it took forever and I think he ended up not even getting it because it took so long he found something else.

    Consider a 5vz-fe swap.
The saying back in the day was that "you can polish a turd, but it's still a turd."

Thanks, I may consider the 5VZ swap.

What do you want to accomplish?
The 3vz is a reliable engine as there are many 300k+ mile examples out in the world. But is not and will not be a "performance" engine. I personally would not throw money at trying to make it 190hp. But if I was on a budget I would certainly consider getting a good stock rebuild and continue to drive the wheels off of it. If budget is not a concern, then the sky is the limit.
