I’m trying to find the answer to a question I have, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Can anyone tell me if the stock TRD Off-road/ORP (Trail) wheels have any issues with aftermarket suspension?

They have a +15 offset, and I think back space is 4.5 - 4.75 (I’m seeing conflicting info on this).

I know most popular aftermarket wheels people go for tend to have more negative offsets which could induce rubbing on fenders and body mount. However I don’t see much mentioned about going in the opposite direction with wheel offsets.

If for example, you were to install a Fox 2.5 or King Mid-travel suspension kit with aftermarket UCA’s, would the stock ORP wheels have any issues? Or would they need wheel spacers?

This is assuming you’d stay with stock sized 265 tires.

I’m not buying or changing anything out right now. This is purely for my own knowledge for when I do decide to change out suspension.

    Thanks

I have an Ironman lift of 2.5 plus with my factory ORP rims and tires, just doesn’t look as good as when I have the pro wheels on it. No rub or anything, but I did have a slight rub with pro wheels pre lift.

I have had three 4Rs with 2.5" lifts in on stock OR wheels and 285s, 1 had aftermarket UCAs, and I've never had a clearance issue involving wheels and suspension.

Thanks. What did you not like the look of? The ORP rims in general or the lack of poke?

And this is without the use of spacers right?

The factory tires shouldn’t come on a 4x4. Once I wear them out, I plan to get a beefier tire for my adventures, and once I wear out my better tires on the pro rims, those will get more of a travel tire wrapped on them.

Oh gotcha. I got rid of the factory tires before I hit 500 mi. I stuck with the stock 265 size, but got the Toyo RT Trails.

Factory tires are great for highway miles, I’m cheap, so I want to get as much use out of them as I can. When I traded my 17 taco in, I put the balding factory wheel set up back on.

TRD ORP wheels are my favorite. They meet tire manufacturers specs to run larger tires like 285/70R17 (or even 285/75R17) and least trouble to clear tire rubbing with a little lift. I have 2 examples.

    TRD ORP-

BFG KO2 285/70R17 on TRD ORP wheels
ELKA 2.5DC suspension with SPC UCA

bottom of the bumper and push the fender liner forward. Also use the blow torch to heat the mud flap and push it back.

    Limited -
Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/70R17 on TRD ORP wheels
Ironman FCP suspension with stock UCA

To clear tire rubbing issues I cut the front of the fender liner and push it forward. That's all it needed.
