Long time Porsche 911 aficionado changing Sports Speed to Off Road Adventures.
After owning various 911’s, over a 40 years span and ending with the very best option of my dream Sports car, a 2019 Carrera 911Touring with the right options,
I decided to slow down and smell the flowers, muddy my feet and feel the sea breeze on my face as I drive off Road.
Sold my dream car and bought my next desired fantasy vehicle. Will drive it south to South America and will explore off road and off grid adventures as feasible and safe. I am a First time Toyota 4Runner owner learning the ropes of back roads. Suggestion are appreciated and any bit of support locally in San Francisco, Bay Area Ca. Will always be Welcomed.

Welcome. If you are new to off roading may I suggest you take an off-road course or some guided trips locally to learn the 4Runner’s limits (and your own) before you set off on your South American expedition.

Congrats! Sounds like an interesting change of pace. You’ll have fun with it.

Probably couldn’t pick a better vehicle for the task…at least for what’s available in the North American market. The Grenadier would’ve been a contender, but it just does not have the proven reliability or parts support yet.

Go slow on the mods! If you’re going far afield it’s best to consider the impact of any changes from the factory configuration. It’s very easy to spend a ton of money on mods that can become nightmare later on.

What are your plans regarding the Darien Gap? The first 4runner to attempt an overland crossing? :D
Actually, that would be pretty cool lol.
