    Hi,
I came back after three months away and the headlights on the Toyota don´t fire up. I have tail lights, sidelights but no headlights. Neither high nor low beam. They fire up if I bypass the main headlight relay in the engine bay, so that has eliminated that side of the circuit. I have brand new relay that works and 12 v arrives where it should. I tested the combo switch and it seems ok and as the tail lights fire up, si I imagine it must be.
I am a bit stumped as what to do next. I noticed there are more relays on the inside fusebox. It says day time running or starter. I don´t have day time running lights so I dont understand what this relay could be. Also don´t exactly know where the earth point is. I have cleaned up all the ground points in the engine bay and around the fuse box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like the head light relay gets its ground through the combination switch.

Yes . That is correct. But I don't know if that ground is on the steering column somewhere or down near the fuse box. The high beam indicator doesnt work either. But the lights on the clock Dim down. I have the feeling it is an earthing point. Near the switch maybe. But then the twilight's probably wouldn't turn on either.
    Has got me stumped.
    Thanks for the diagram mate.

It looks like the IE ground point is in the left kick panel.

Ok, thanks for that. Looking at the diagram it could be the earth or the R-W running from the relay to the switch. I will check it out.
    Thanks a lot.
And can I ask where you get your schematics from?

You are welcome. Google, 2nd gen 4Runner FSM, there are a couple of options for free online factory service manuals.
