I have a '16 Limited and it has that rack on top that I really don't like. It's just my girlfriend and I, so we really don't need external cargo space. I'd like to remove the roof rack and rails, but I don't know if there are any OE filler panels for the mounting channels under the rack. I've looked at every permutation of 4Runner on the Toyota website and they all seem to have roof rails, so I'm thinking not but you never know if you don't ask.

Does anyone know if Toyota makes/sells filler panels for the roof rack mounting points?

No problem, post up some pictures when you get it done. Curious to see what it looks like.

I ordered the roof rack delete kit off Ebay and took it off, I will never use it, it's silver and doesn't match the truck well, the roof rack makes waxing/washing the roof a bit more difficult, I like the clean look better. Word of warning, be very careful if you use a screwdriver to pry off the covers, do not put any downward force even if using a rag, I managed to put a tiny dent in the vehicle before using a plastic pry tool from my dent repair kit. Duh, why I didn't use that initially is beyond logical thought.

Bringing a thread back from the dead!! I’m thinking the same with my Pro. No need for a roof rack. But I’m going to hold on to my Pro rack just Incase.

It is a PITA to remove the snow on my 16 runner with those rails.. also washing it takes more time hard to wax the roof around the rails.. IMO might get better MPG with the rails gone.
putting stuff on the roof you must be careful not to whack the shark fin antenna ... very fragile will cause a leak .

I did not mine the rails on my 17 Pro. But this rack on the 2020 Pro gotta go. Real pain in the butt.

I don't get the little side arrows on those trim pieces...shouldn't 2 of them be pointing the opposite way...?

No clue. I honestly can't remember if it signified anything when I put mine on, but I haven't had any issues with it.

On mine I noticed the clip did not sit correctly if it was on wrong. You will see that. Because it did not line up with the black strip.

If I didn't carry a kayak around sometimes, I'd consider slicktopping mine.

I don't dislike the rackless look. I do think a lot of the "ooooh... aaaah" can be attributed to it just being different, since 95% of 4Runners have some form of a rack.

I'll admit, the only thing I've used my OE rack (just the rails, no cross bars) for is to hold when I'm washing the roof. But that alone makes it worth keeping.

I'll be removing my rack for the winter this weekend. I may never put it back on. I only use it to haul kayaks. Which after a full day of kayaking it sucks lifting them up on a lifted 4runner. A small trailer is in my future.

I used to put a mountain bike on a rooftop rack. No more. I'm too old for that crap. Hitch-mount carrier was a life changer!

Now that I think about it... my bike may actually weigh more than my kayak.

I just brought the delete kit and hope to install it this winter. I thought about going with a full roof rack, but figured I should really just hook up a trailer if needed since I wouldn't use the rack consistently.
