Eh, I welded up these little holes in my bumper that were meant for bolts that hold on these cheese looking surround pieces.

I finished up the lightbar, roof rack and new to me, OEM headlights with Morimoto stroke LED lowbeams...I'm hoping this version 4 of the LEDs do not cause dash lights...so far, all is well!

Installed full RCI skids and sliders. Also replaced factory alternator with Mechman 240 amp alternator.

Installed an AFE CAI that I got for $160 off the marketplace. Sounds awesome and the throttle response is much better. Probably will change out the filter when payday hits ;)

I swapped my winter tires and wheels on and removed the rear Spidertrax 1.25 wheel spacers on the rear...the tires all appear more aligned in looks now...

@Irving Zisman Been looking at this myself! Did you replace the accessory belt with a recommended slightly shorter one and if so what length?

Indeed, I did use a shorter belt. Mechman says to use a belt that is half an inch shorter than OEM. If you have the V8, I can save you the time and provide the Dayco part number 5060875. It is roughly half an inch shorter that OEM.
If you dont have the V8, Mechman has a belt finder tool on their website: https://www.mechman.com/quick-belt-finder/

    Hope this helps.

Just saw you have the 2005 V8. I guess the link will help those with the V6 lol.

Put my winter tires on and cleaned my Throttle body. Was pretty grimey. After relearning the idle, the truck starts and idles lower than it previously did. So was happy to see that, as cold idle seemed high to me at 1500rpm.

Upgraded my already outstanding Pioneer AVH-2550NEX from wired to wireless Carplay with this adapter from Amazon. Plug & play using the USB connection. Works perfectly.

The big thing it’s plugged into is a USB cable intended to mount up to a surface. Already had that and will probably replace it with something more streamlined next time I have the dash opened up.

Ordered an Asfir engine skid to replace my battered OEM piece. 10% off for Black Friday so $288 shipped for 1/4” aluminum. Placed my order, got an immediate automatic confirmation, then 45 minutes later an email saying the item was in stock and they’d be back in touch soon with tracking info. Had a FedEx tracking number ~90 minutes later. Really appreciate it when a company is on top of things.

Installed the Asfir aluminum skid today. My OEM skids were pretty beaten up.

Noticed something interesting while I was working under the truck. The family behind Toyota is actually named Toyoda but spelled the company name with the 2nd “t” for some reason I don’t recall. In any case, I saw this stamped on a part:

Is the H9 headlight bulb upgrade a thing for the 2003 to 2005 headlights? Will it roast the plug/wiring harness?

If I am not mistaken, it shouldn't roast the plug, as I believe the LED voltage is much lower than that of a halogen bulb. But it's a matter of fitment or plug-and-play solutions that you can find.

Didn't have any issues on my 2018 when I did it. Huge improvement, stock was SO disappointing.

I believe the H9 is also a halogen, just one that uses 10 more watts of power (which is why some people are concerned it will melt the plug).
You didn't change anything except the bulbs? I know the tab has to be trimmed and the connector plug has a plastic thing that needs to be shaved off. I was more worried if i put the H9's in it will draw too much current for the existing plug and melt/destroy it. But glad to hear you haven't had any issues.

Replaced the throttle body gasket. Why? Because I usually unbolt the TB and partially pull it off for cleaning but didn’t know the gasket should be replaced until the Car Care Nut mentioned it in a video.

By “partially,” I mean you can remove the bolts and pull the TB loose without disconnecting the hoses, giving easy access to the back. It’s a lot easier to clean that way. The gasket didn’t look bad but for less than $10, I decided to replace it since I’ve done the cleaning at least 3-4 times before.

IMPORTANT - if you follow this method, do NOT overtighten the 4 long bolts. I’ve broken one twice, the first time while trying to follow the torque value. After the second time, I do it by feel and haven’t had any issues.

Have you had aot of carbon build up? I flip my tb plate and it looks shiny! I do use non-ethonal fuels so I'm wondering if that's why...?

Amazing, ordered the fill/drain plugs and gaskets for like $20 bucks. I 'think' i have these from my Tacoma that i never installed, but wasn't sure. $20 is worth having multiple sets.

Gearing up for a long road trip for the holidays. Aired up the tires, going to grease all the zerks after work, oil change interval should be right at max once i return so i'm not going to bother changing it prior. Got the kid, dog, xmas gifts, luggage etc etc etc to haul around for 1,500ish miles:
