Finally got some time off work. Tomorrow to try and set this thing up.Not a whole lot of time so hoping you guys can help me figure this out pretty quick. Since my runner is brand new I don’t wanna risk ruining something so figured I’d ask.

If you were me which fuse would you guys use to run this hardwire kit so that it is powered 24/7 while the vehicle is off or in park so that it can continue to record. This is my major hang up, the rest with cable management I should be able to get by just fine.

Why wouldn’t you just tap into the rear view mirror? They make taps specifically to do that.

    Rear view mirror tap: https://dongar.tech/

I’m using the Garmin Mini2 dash cam with the Dongar USB adapter. But it turns off when the vehicle is switched off. Since I did my install Dongar has come up with a solution that will allow the camera to remain on continuously, or for 4 hours, at your discretion.

I advise against a 24/7 setup but if you must have it just go straight to the battery and don’t even mess with fuse taps.

P.S.: what year and trim level is your 4Runner? I’m starting a collection of fuse panel cover photos.

I used a fuse tap for my escort radar. Plugged directly into the rear view mirror plus it has a fuse. As with any electrical job, disconnect the battery first

I personally wouldn’t leave it powered 24/7. That’s just me. You always want to make sure the device has a fuse in front of it plus it’s draining your battery. Again. Just me.
