2024 4runner TRD Pro - Terra - 624 miles - San Jose, CA - $62.5k

Up for sale is an essentially brand new Terra 4runner TRD Pro.

Bought this beaut and my family hated the color (they're wrong for that). They wanted me to keep it for a year, enjoy it and sell it. I'm here trying to buy a car to drive till the wheels fall off, and little do they know how little I want the new 2025 4runner. A few weeks ago a dealership that had my info called me offering a TRD Pro Underground, so I secured that and now that's my 4runner.

Only 624 miles on the odo, only taken on a trip to napa valley and back. sitting in garage right now. This one has running boards. Still clean and never washed so paint is still perfect, new car smell still strong. Things pristine of course.

Price is firm for now, I'm just trying to recoup as much money as I can from it.

I had a deposit at Walnut Creek Toyota in NorCal for a pro in underground or terra and two weeks later the sales guy hit me up saying a Terra was on the boat and I think I would have been the first customer in the west coast or us to receive it and it was msrp (like 55 or 56k if i remember) anyway a week before I was going to fly up there to pick it up I found my current lunar rock specked out exactly how I wanted it so I got that instead. This was like one year and two months ago. I love my lunar rock but unfortunately it’s super played out towards the end of lunar rock Toyota pumped a shit ton of them and I’ll see one or two lunar rock 4Runners everyday on the road and they’re all different people not the same ones.

 

Buddy, get out of my head. You think I didn't consider this? My path has enough poor financial decisions to get me to this point!

My 2022 Tacoma Offroad that preceded my 4runner(s) was in lunar rock. Gorgeous color for sure, and that thing went quick when I listed it!

I get what you mean by played out, problem is that lunar rock started on the rav4, not the tacoma so it was already out there. That's one of the things that attracted me to Terra btw, this is the only 5th gen 4runner year AND trim that will be roaming the streets in Terra. Underground's everywhere on the other hand

 

Yup exactly underground is this years lunar rock lol. How come you get rid of your lunar rock? I also had a 2022 lunar rock unfortunately it was a Covid build and had a ton of rattles and they brought in an engineer from Toyota because they never seen one with so many rattles and the engineers “fix” was to put felt tape around everything luckily I was able to dump it and not take a loss during the car craze

 

My taco had some weird defects like that too, mainly around the leather in the seats and the steering wheel. It was also a covid build I guess that's what the problem was. You have more grace than me, I would have never accepted felt tape solution to anything!

And I sold it cause I wanted a 4runner!

 

can't you buy your wife like a BMW or something so she will get off your back? That color is dope and a Pro no less.

Why are you asking so much over MSRP? (Your can and you can price it how you want)

Did you pay over msrp?

If not over msrp, are you wanting someone to double pay taxes, your taxes then theirs on top?

 

Not married! And had I listened to my gf I wouldn't be in this mess to begin with lol

I paid MSRP + 2k in addons (from dealer) + tax and registration, and I'm still eating a loss here all that considered. The window sticker shows a whopping $10k over MSRP btw, and I managed to get that knocked off! Northern California is brutal if you like anything Toyota.

And I'm not asking anyone to pay anything! I'm just putting this out there to see what I can get. I've had a dealership offer me $60.7k and I have other extended family willing to take it all day at MSRP, i'm just trying to recoup as much as I can since I have another vehicle to pay for.

oh no I would never keep one with that hack of a fix I dumped it and sold that I’m super ocd anal. Luckily I recouped what I paid and sold it for a little over 50k I currently have a 2023 lunar rock 4Runner

 

They really hit it out of the park with that color, it's everywhere and people are still fighting for it.

No, I haven’t had it a year, only 2ish months at this point. They mean keep it for a year or two then swap it out. And it’s not being driven since I have my underground.

That 10+% sales tax really stings for people what switch cars often, plus CA doesn't let you pay tax on the difference between trade in and a new car like many states do, and instead makes you pay the tax every time. The next buyer will have to pay tax on 62.5 k so that's gonna suck for them too. Unfortunately no easy outcome to this.

 

Fuck commiefornia in Arizona you don’t even have place to fill the sales price on their title because they don’t charge sales tax between private party sales

 

I'm just stuck on the fact that you bought another one because your family didn't like the color. Are they paying for it? Who cares if they like the color or not, LOL.

I'd get rid of the Underground one and rock the Terra just for spite, haha.

(And I do agree with them, I think Terra is ugly AF)

 

This state is ass man, all these taxes and you don't get anything for it, it's extortion. High COL and no relief for the citizen.

The Underground was a deal I couldn't pass up. And I think Terra is gorgeous but what surprised me was friends and fam considered it a "loud" color, which is the opposite of my personality. I don't want to stand out, I wanna fade into the crowd

 

Terra is the opposite of loud it’s a soft muted earth tone but you’ll blend in better with underground since everyone with an sr5 or trd has an underground 4runner

 

GLWS but how is an underground pro still available? I thought 5th Gen’s no longer available new.

 

I doubt they're available now. I got the call for and paid for the underground mid-october.

 

What was the market adjustment on that one?

 

I got it at MSRP, without add ons unlike the Terra

They gave me a bit of a runaround though, sales guy calls and offers the 4runner and I tell him sure I'll take it and give him all my info. They run credit checks and stuff and next day I call to check the status, get a different salesperson. This other sales guy then texts me telling me they'd rather sell it to someone locally and thanks for reaching out. I had to chew them out and explained they reached out to me and ran my credit, my sales guy then gets back and gets a hold of the situation and pushes it through.

They claimed it was their last 2024 period so I'm guessing I snagged one off the very last shipment.

 

I’m with Trail Runnah on this. Even if it were my wife, and not just a girlfriend, her color preference would not affect my decision to buy or keep a vehicle.

A deal you couldn’t pass up? You had an essentially new 4Runner in the garage. Of course you could afford to pass on the Underground. And now you’re going to take a bath on the sale of the Terra.

All because “family and friends” don’t like the color. Total β move.

I feel in the last two quarters of this year, most dealers were doing MSRP. I feel like it'll be at least till the end of 2025 till we see that again for 4runners

 

Have you tried carmax? Did it all online. Sold the wifes '05 Rav4 with 120k, very clean for $4100. And they did all the paperwork. I was going to give it up for $2k.

 

You could have gotten 5k within 30 minutes of positing on Facebook marketplace
