Shout out to @vthoky for the amazing deal today on his 4Runner takeoff rims.

If they had been any cleaner or better packed up I would’ve thought I was buying them brand new direct from Toyota, except they don’t normally bring bourbon as well!

    Cannot recommend this person enough!

Hope y’all enjoy the shine, stay safe!

Thank you, J, it was a pleasure meeting you and Mrs.
I appreciate the gifts you brought along as well. We'll be into that shine this evening, for sure.

Sorry about the dog hair in the box tape. :D

Added cat guards to my OK Expedition transmission skid plate. Now I just need to actually install the engine and transmission skids...

As long as pupper wasn’t harmed in the sharing of the hair all is good.

All good. Pupper crossed the bridge two years ago, but I still find dog-hair tumbleweeds in the garage from time to time. ;^)

After 3k gentle on road miles decided it was time to break her in on a light trail. Also got to try my Staun tire (tyre?) deflator for first time https://amzn.to/48VL8uG
(lady in add picture not included with purchase)

4Runner did great cruising around 8-20mph on this terrain except last 1-2 miles was washboard and really really rough with XREAS suspension. Had to go less than 5mph or felt like car would come apart. My friend with Ironman FCP suspension flew past me at 30-40mph.

Staun deflator was really fast and convenient but not too accurate in the pressures I wanted (25psi) but suspect due to user error, will need to play around with it more to dial them in just right.

Great! Any thing worth looking into other than the usual wear and tear items while reaching that mileage?

    More time-dependent than mileage:

The coolant transfer pipes running in the valley between cylinder banks are known to corrode and develop small pinhole leaks. Mine have corrosion but haven't leaked yet. Big job to replace as you have to pull the lower intake manifold.

A few spring clamps on evap system hoses cracked from rust. I replaced them with stainless worm clamps, which can be installed without disconnecting the hose (bag of various sizes on Amazon).

I have seepage in the T-case speed sensor cap and steering rack boots. Haven't dealt with those.

The vehicle came with a broken fuel tank strap when I bought it early last year. It also has a cheap Walker muffler and tailpipe.

As far as I can tell, it's on the original water pump, radiator, evap canister, and wheel bearings, all running fine. The thermostat was working fine too, but I replaced it with an Aisin one as preventative maintenance.

    Dealbreaker right there

Jokes aside, it's safe to run lower pressures (12-15 psi) on washboard, improves ride considerably. Just keep speeds below 40 mph or so to prevent overheating the tire.

Sounds good! I will keep an eye on the items you talk about.
I had a CEL last year at about 190k and ended up replacing my entire EVAP system due to a misdiagnosis. Ended up being a cheap fuel tank gasket. My VVT line is leaking at the lower gasket. Will get to it eventually. On my original alternator, water pump and thermostat.
Did you replace the pulleys, tensioner and belts at any point?

Installed 35’s , did a viper cut and installed JBA uppers . Currently have two issues one is the wheels are rubbing still even after having the body mounts chopped and the second issue is we couldn’t correct alignment since the back bolt on the lower control arms are seized and can’t adjust camber and toe so not sure what the fix is for that

For the transmission skid, looks to offer the same amount of ground clearance as the ARB transmission skid I used to have. I have the OK Expedition engine and transmission skid waiting to be installed and I'm considering their transfer case skid too while their sale is on.

I bet. Initially started trail at 36-37psi, after 10 minutes decided was too bumpy so went to 25psi.

was afraid to go lower because my tires are slightly considered pie cutters, 255/75r17 and not on beaded wheels. Would 15psi still be safe?

15 psi should be okay if you go slow. If you want to be on the safe side you can go down to 18 psi without worry and still have a much better ride

15 psi is safe, as is 12. For soft terrain (like snow or sand) you can go even lower like the Aussies do:

Some ORV parks such as Silver Lake have written rules prohibiting tire pressures higher than 15 psi (i.e. they don't want you bogging down in the sand and getting stuck)

In addition to comfort and larger footprint, lower pressure also makes the tire more puncture resistant.

Some tires (e.g. Cooper STMaxx) lack a rim protector bevel. At lower double-digit pressures they are prone to trapping debris between the rim lip and the tire bead. So that's another practical limitation.

Beadlock wheels are typically used for running low single-digit pressures (like 6 psi) in the rocks.

Yeah OKX T-case skid tucks reasonably high. It's pretty good as far as aluminum skids go, with a steel crossmember. I suspect the RA T-case skid would crack the welds on the aluminum crossmember if I dropped the vehicle weight on it.
