Hi all I was curious if I can fit 285/70/17 on a TRD pro with no rubbing I know they come with the fender trim from the port and I do have a 2.5” lift. If anyone can confirm or post photos would be great. Trying to avoid viper cut and BCM for now. I’m running 255/80/17 now with only having rubbed on the mudflaps and I removed them already. On a wheel calculator the difference is 33.1” 10” wide for the 255s and for the 285s it’s 32.8 with 11.7 inches wide.

    thanks

Here's a video to get an idea what kind of rubbing to be expected with no lift. Skip to 7:08 on the time line.

The tires are 32.76in Toyo OC 285/70R17SL. If I use a 285/70R17 that are 33 or bigger like 33.15,.... I would be in more trouble. ( Edit : I love the fact that 285/70R17 has crazy amount of diameter options, of course with other features )

The biggest reason I would not go 255/80r17 is they are Load E and I has hash ride quality experience with 275/70R17. So I would never put Load E to my 5000lbs 4runner. Minor reason is 255 width does not look good to me for the 4Runner styling. Sure they look classic to older vehicles.

I haven't decided on a lift yet. I would stay around 2.5in or slightly less in front. That should be enough to clear.

I just put 285/70R17's on my un-lifted ORP with TRD wheels. I had to remove the front mud flaps and do some minor trimming.
