In my 4Runner (2024 TRD ORP) I get a weird listing (filter) of "Recent Artists" when I try to play something from Apple Music and go into Libary->Artists

This "Recent Artists" consists of a small sub-group of all of my artists.

I don't have this problem in my Subaru Outback - it works as expected.

I've tried removing the 4Runner from the iPhone and removing the iPhone from the 4Runner (specifically turning the Auto Apple Carplay option off) and I can get it to work sometimes but it always seems to revert to that "Recent Artists" filter which does not appear on the filter menu. You only get "All Artists" or "Favorites" to filter by.

Anyone else experience this? Does anyone have a fix?

    From observations:

This is speed-related. If you're moving AT ALL it will go to a short list of favorites. If you stop then you'll get a normal list of artists. In my Outback it doesn't do this so I assume it's some lawyer-nonsense from Toyota to "keep us safe" (not sue them).

    Oooh look, another mod.....

The fix that I recommend and have done myself: Move all music files to a USB drive and keep that plugged into your 4Runner. When you add/remove/add/remove, etc... a device to any network (like your Infotainment) it doesn't like that, and will sometimes lose your settings.

I bought a micro USB (so it doesn't stick out too far). It's a 64 gigs, so I have room to add as much music as I want. NOW, if you do this, you have to put the music into sub-folders. I think the limit is 399 songs per folder. It's not a big deal, create however many folders and toss the music into it. Then tell the head unit to view all folders.
