Just found out today that my power steering fluid is below min level. The steering is still work fine, not feeling any resistance or seeing any leak on the ground yet. Is it ok to drive with this until I can get the truck in the shop to get looked at. I live in a small town, only drive 2-3 miles a day to work and back.

top it off with some Dexron III ATF (there is a spec to meet if you want to use another fluid) and check it periodically to see if the level is going down.

I once ran it dry in an old Sienna and it came with a buzzing noise when turning, topping it off fixed it but I suspected a leak when the system was pressurized.

Never seemed to run out of PSF after that though - it stuck around for some years before it was sold so not sure what happened there.

I took the truck to the shop this morning. The mechanic said this was likely the power steering pump going bad. Bringing it there again so they can have a closer look and determine what has to be replaced. Hopefully not something costly.
