Front Coil Spring Alignment

I ordered a set of assembled Bilstein 4600s with the expectation that they would be received ready to install. However, it looks like they just put everything together, tightened the top hat nut and called it good.

With OE Coils/Shocks, the bottom coil faces the rear. I'm wondering if everything needs to be aligned to function properly or if I just need to rotate the shocks to line up with the mounting brackets.

 

It should not matter.

 

Are they at the height you wanted? If yes, you should be fine to bolt them on

 

I wanted to remain at stock height and they're supposed to be OE equivalent springs (no lift). It bothers me that the springs are not aligned but if this doesn't affect function I'm probably not going to adjust them.

 

Ok. You’re fine then. Can I ask why you went with Bilstein if you aren’t lifting it? Were the factory ones worn out? If so, I could totally see why you switched

 

I went with the 4600s because I had them on my Jeep (2005 LJ) when it was still stock and they felt great for about 100,000 miles. I'm now approaching 100,000 on the 4Runner so it's probably time for shocks.

 

Fair that the installer's attention to detail regarding the pigtail orientation isn't consistent between them but it really doesn't matter

 

You probably shouldn't be installing suspension components. I mean it's not complicated but it takes some common sense. Not sure the OP is going to pull this off

 

You'll be fine. Understand what you're talking about. You can't look at both sides at the same time, so other than you knowing that they are not the same as far as the spring align, they are going to perform the same. Bilstein... good choice.
