    Mine fishtailed going 35 mph on a wet, curvy hill. The original Nitto Grapplers were at 52,000 miles. I promptly replaced them with Toyo OC AT3's that week. No issues with the new tires, but the old tires were done and I was glad to get 52,000 miles out of them.

    In my humble opinion I think folks focus on mileage rather than performance and safety. Myself I don’t care about how many miles I get on a set of tires. I want them to do the best job keeping my vehicle in the game, on or off road. I have never hit the wear bars on a set of tires, it just does not perform at that stage. This is what keeps you on the road.

    My Duratracs were little on the louder side and also felt little more road hugging to my taste.
    Not a huge deal, I did a trip CO -> WY -> SD and back with them.

    I bought my pro in 2021. The stock Nittos seemed OK in rain for the first 10k or so but after that I had a few terrifying incidents with them completely losing traction during moderate rain storms. I swapped them out for a set of at3w in November and the difference was incredibly positive in both rain and snow running in 2H.

    It's because so many people here have small wallet energy. They are financially burdened when they need new tires because they are incapable of planning ahead.

    I have put ~8k on them in the last few months. They feel extremely planted in scenarios my Nittos struggled with such as merging onto the highway in light to moderate rain and driving in light snow/slush. Situations where 4H shouldn't be needed. My partner and I both feel like the improvement was well worth the cost. The Nittos were honestly so bad that I feel like I might have gotten a bad set or something. I know my experience isn't universal but I felt passionately enough about this to create an account and post after lurking on these forums for a few years.

    I still haven't had any issues(Hi-ways/Back roads /2 Lane semis hi-ways @ all/any speed conditions) past winter snow or current rain we've gotten & that we have had a lot of.:notsure:

    i 2nd that. Ive never had any slippage regardless if how heavy the rain was or speeds, even doing 70+ in the rain on the PA Turnpike

    I think the 4runner when in 2wd, in it’s natural unaided state, is definitely prone to oversteer. In most situations, the stability control system can handle things without noticing much drama. But if you have immediate and severe loss of traction, like during hydroplaning, the stability system will aggressively brake whichever corner has traction to help you maintain control. That tends to feel very jerky and loud, especially if the vehicle is already starting to rotate/slide.

    I’d be surprised if you were actually fish tailing though (where the back end swings wide and then violently swings the other way after overcorrecting).

    My pro was bad with the nittos and still bad with 285 toyos. Wet pavement and any incline or decline in road. I keep seeing people say slow down or ease off of the gas… it’s not that. I’m wondering if it’s due to no weight in the back with seats removed?

    Surely I hated the factory Nittos.

    Now I run 285 toyos (AT3). I drive in little fun mood and often hear tire sqeeking on turns on dry pavement. On snow when there's no vehicles near by I do hit the gas and let the back loose. I'm not sure about fish tailing but I feel 4Runner traction system is doing a good job keeping me in the path I want to go.
