    Hello!

I’m looking for examples of 285s with the ORP/Trail edition wheels. Preferably with 1.25 inch spacers, but if not, I’d like to see photos without as well.

I’m playing with the idea of going back to stock wheels instead of running my 17x9 SCS wheels.

Post examples if you have them! Thank you.

The benefit of the stock wheels is the offset, if you run spacers, you lose that benefit. Allegedly 285's fit with ORP wheels. Meanwhile my 0mm offset aftermarket wheels result in rub (at full lock in reverse) with stock size tires. The reason I only went 0mm offset is because poke is illegal here, tire has to be covered by the fender (yet I see lots of poke driving around, not sure how they're passing yearly inspection).

I have K02s in 285/70-17 mounted on my stock Off-Road Wheels. They clear the mudguard throughout through all combinations of suspension range and steering angle. At least standing still. I saw some evidence of them touching the mudguard after some rock crawling adventures, but it was just barely a kiss…not enough to compress them against the body mount and rip them off. I did have to trim the inside corner of the bumper cover, and push the liner forward a bit however.

However, OR wheels and 285/70 will likely rub the body mount if you have aftermarket upper control arms because they pivot the wheel backwards.

I’m also curious about seeing this tire size/wheel combo with spacers. I’ve thought about it to regain a little track width after my lift. The OR wheels are worth keeping because of the valve stem protection. They’ve already save me twice based on the scratches on my wheels. Just not sure if spacers are worth the trouble though.

Clearance behind the wheel isn’t necessarily my concern. I did not retain my mudflaps and have modified my pinch weld/have a BMC.

I have seen issues where people have stock wheels with 285s and rub their aftermarket UCA. The spacers would eliminate that concern.

    Wescott Designs Leveling Kit
I have the Wescott Design leveling kit with the Spidertrax 1.25 spacers added to the build and 285/70 R17 K02 tires installed last month. It looked great. But it caused rubbing at full lock while in reverse. I took off the front mud flaps and it improved. It still wasn’t to my satisfaction. I didn’t like the gaps under the wheel well and didn’t want to make cuts to the wheel well that would create areas of mud collection and possibly create rust Unser the truck. So I sold the wheel spacers and reinstalled the mud flaps with no rubbing. It also cancelled out the wheel shake on the steering wheel.
Let us know what you’ve decided.

I have 285/70/17 BFG KO2's with OR wheels and 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. I get some rubbing in reverse on the mudflap. I have a 1.6" front lift with stock UCA's and the caster set to 3.6*. I also have the fender liner mod. No body mount chop. Don't need it.

This is a crappy pic and I'll try and add more but there isn't a lot of poke. All of the tread is under the fender. The only thing that sticks out from under the fender is the bulge of the sidewall.

I think 1" spacers would be perfect with OR wheels but the lugs are slightly too long for 1" spacers......and if I'm not mistaken, it's just the lugs in the rear by 1 or 2mm. You could make 1" spacers work if you're not afraid to grind some lugs down slightly.

Couple more pics to add. If my maths is correct, an OR wheel with a 1.25" spacer will give you an offset of around -17. Something to keep in mind is that you can get away with a lower offset using an OR or PRO wheel because they are narrower than a lot of other aftermarket wheels.

    Interesting thread. Watching
    I got 285/70’s on 0 offset 17x9’s w/ 1.25”spacers.
I don’t think there’s these yearly inspections in America’s evil top hat.

I'm going to through a cautionary word out there if you're considering spacers:

Not all repair/tire shops are the same. But what I ran into was several local shops wouldn't touch my 4R with spacers on. When I finally got my aftermarket rims put on, I had the shop take them off in the process. I hated to do that, but it was necessary. I tried 3 different shops to get my rims put on and they wouldn't touch it with the spacers on. It was a "policy" thing. I think the spacers make it look better (even with some minor rubbing). I eventually took my spacers and sold them on FB.

Not discouraging you. But check your local shops and see what their policies are for adding or touching a vehicle with spacers.

    Very true.

I will relay my experience with Americas Tire......

So I'm having them put a new set of tires on my 4Runner and the manager walks into the waiting room to inform me they broke one of the lugs on my spacer. He admits fault right away and says the tech should have been using a torque wrench instead of the impact gun. Told me they would buy me a new set of spacers no questions asked.

I purchased the new spacers on my phone in the waiting room and they reimbursed me right then and there.

I've had 285s and OR wheels (with a 2.5 lift) on 3 / 4 my 4Rs over the years. I like the OR wheels so much I run a set on my current GX (which, regrettably, I can only squeeze 32s on without chopping things).

No spacers though. Just don't care for them. The OR wheels put the tires flush with the fender and I think that's a perfect look.

Edit, what the hell, gratuitous GX w/ OR wheels (w 1.5" lift) shot! NOT 285s THOUGH. Still closer to what you asked for than some posts above LOL...
