Took the dogs to a forest road so they could play in the snow on the Mogollon rim.

part of the trail was really slick and muddy so I aired down and had fun doing donuts as well

Went to install my Gobi Heavy duty struts I bought back in December 2022 because my poor stock hatch struts just couldn't do it anymore. 4 weeks ago I'm taking these struts out of their packaging for the first time and they were clearly used and abused, scratched up and rusted. Ticked me off. First 3 pics are the Gobi truts.

So then I ordered 22.70 Inch Strong Arm 6156 Lift Support SKU 6156-W for 40 bucks. From www.liftsupportsdepot.com - 4th pic installed.

Wish I'd done this a long time ago. I have a small Gobi ladder, aftermarket speakers and some dynamat, these struts open the hatch with ease. Crazy easy install.

We had our first snow. Not too much though, around my house we got about 8.5in snow. Sometime back someone asked how snow accumulated on sliders. Also took a pic of the air intake holes on the wheel well.

None yet but will do some light mods. Wheels and tires, suspension and radio
Well. I've done a few things to my 2018 4runner limited. I got a set of Method 17in 316 Titanium Wheels with BF GOODRICH KO2 A/T Tires. I've also had a 2in leveling kit installed and finally. I had a front bumper conversion done.

Question: I am in the same boat as you. I went to put the struts in my cart and the website says "not compatible" with that model/year 4Runner. Are they fibbing?

@JustATallDude - how challenging was it? I bought the harness but kind of chickened out when I saw the install instructions.

Works great. Lifts that gate up fast. Struts seem slightly longer but they fit. Just had to push the hatch up kinda hard. Here's a pic of the sticker with the model number. Installed and works great. Maybe even lifts the hatch slightly faster than I want.

Just hooked up the ScanGauge II I picked up and got the transmission temps up there. Now to figure out where to stick it and route the cable...

Buy Ethernet cable thin as a phone charging cable and a coupler from Amazon. You can mount it any where you want.
Mine is 3M taped just under the hvac controls.

Traded off my spare set of sylvania silverstar ultra h11 that I had ended up with for a set of sylvania silverstar ultra 9005 for the high beams. Not quite sure but I might have been rocking the oem bulbs. Don’t use them often but happy for the upgrade nonetheless.

Dumb question: You used the included 6 ft OBDII > ethernet cable wrapped up and hooked into the coupler right?

Right now I got it looped semi-tightly around my wiper stalk and sitting beneath the gauges. A possible spot but hardly secure right now.

Coupler is in the middle -
    upload_2024-11-7_18-1-4.png

My cabling route is: From OBD port the cable goes behind the left side of driver kick panel -> then goes behind the fabric like carpet (not the removable carpet, the factory one covering the floor -> then goes behind the right side of driver kick panel -> goes in to the hvac control area (requires removing some trim pieces) -> then out right under the hvac controls.

It was honestly a little out of my comfort zone. I've installed a new wheel on my 91 pickup but there's no airbag and I didn't have to mess with a clockspring. I had one of my buddies install it and he's a wiring master so he had some fun doing it but the clockspring is really what scared me off from doing it myself. If you follow everything in the instructions to a T then it's really not too hard. Just go slow and follow everything closely.

I ordered some of the PM1052 and I do not recommend them for anyone in cold climate. They fail to lift in anything under 30F. I have no added weight on the hatch either. I nailed my head pretty good first cold day-had a goose egg for 3 days. The customer service is great though. They shipped out heavier duty lifts-PM3489- very fast and without hassle. Problem solved.
