OEM LED headlights conversion adapters for 14-20 halogen 4Runners!

What if the new headlight are '23 oem with LED high + low beam and halogen driving light? Should I go with option 3 harnesses that match the 2022 and up behavior?

 

I do not understand these words. If you don't understand the harness and how it works then please do not purchase.

There are three options:
1. No shutter -- this is only really appropriate for headlights with only 2 wires (positive and negative) pinned aka no shutter lead pinned meaning high beams are 9005 bulb only
2. LED High Beam Only -- this is for those who desire the exact behavior of 2022+ 4Runner where high beam duty is handled exclusively by the LED projector. This requires 3 pins on the headlight to work properly. The reason I think it's lame is that the LED high beam is pretty weak from what I visually observe and the 9005 bucket with a 9011 HIR bulb can produce significant output so I'd personally pick the 3rd option if I ever were in this situation.
3. Quad high beams -- This is the clear choice, doesn't mean you have to go 9011 HIR over 9005 but you have full options and maximum high beam output. Granted I don't know what the laws say about how many "bulbs" can be active at a time to be road legal but my Tacoma does leave low beams on when high beams are activated and I really can't imagine a situation where highway patrol pulls someone over for running high beams and cites 4 bulbs when only 2 are allowed. The only other potential "drawback" is that if you run 9011 HIR bulbs, the DRL will wear down the filament and you may have to replace them faster than you would if you were using for high beams only. I don't see that as a downside, they are consumables and meant to be used and you're no worse off with 9005's and quad high beams than if you went LED high beam only and 9005's.

I don't see much point in running 9011 HIR's if not using them for high beam duty, any cheap 9005's should be fine for DRL use.

I don't understand this question either, what do you mean by "no good news?"

You desire a way to tap the high beam signal for aux lighting / light bar, etc?

I can for sure offer that via 9005 T or via the 4 position LED connector T but you'd only need one and it'd be very specific to DIY users doing something with a relay. Not hard at all. Was that asked for previously?

I'm sure 9005 T would not help as there is no high beam functionality in 9005 connector for the 4runners come with factory bi-led headlights.
a wire connector to just one side of the headlight would be perfect to the requirement.

So for a 2016 to get 2024 headlights the quad high beams connection seems to be the way to go?

Im now in year 2 of figuring out how to make my wife’s 4Runner lights better. We live up in Alaska and the darkness is coming. This seems to be the way.

 

Even the owners of 2022+ 4runner come with bi-led headlights (including 2021 TRD Pro & Limited) needs additional highbeam or some sort of additional forward facing light as the stock LED highbeam is pathetic.
I just contacted @daveeasa to get me a pig tail wire for my 2021 TRD PRO. Will try it when I receive. Hopefully the weather helps me to install.

Yeah, 2022+ seems to get the shaft here, if I ever get one for myself I likely either hunt down a 2021 or fab my own quad high beam harness.

Correct, quad high beams is the best option. There is no good reason to match 2022+ behavior vs running quad high beams. The led projector high beam is pathetic.

 

This is the one I went with when I replaced the halogens in my 2020 ORP and the quad high-beams are great. I was very impressed with the quality of the wiring harness when it arrived and the relay bolts, very conveniently, just behind the headlight. 100% satisfied so far.

 

FYI I purchased the quad high beam option and its amazing, even with the stock 9005 bulbs. The harnesses are very well made.

Do you feel there is much difference between the quad high beams from 2022+ and 2021 halogen high beam?

 

When reading through the post I didn’t see any mention of the 2021 TRD off road premium grade headlights. Are they LED high beam like the 2021 TRD Pro?

 

I don’t own a 4Runner and I only own a single headlight so I can’t answer this.

Depends on what you mean by looking at them. If you have them in your hands, or good pictures of the back, you can tell by the pins.

2-pin connector = full halogen
4-pin connector populated with 2 pins = hybrid
4-pin connector populated with 3 pins = full LED


If you can only see them while on the vehicle, there's a slight difference in the DRL refector, seen here in the pictures taken from post #54 by @matoolie

The full halogen headlamps are the only ones to have information stamped/etched on the inner corner of the lens that I'm aware of.

I have a question for everyone I just acquired some 2023 bi led headlight and I'm going to get the conversion kit that allows me to run dual high beams and my question is can I run an LED where the DRL is?

 

I believe so but me, personally, I'd got 9011 HIR for max high beam.
But LED for long life DRL makes sense, just maybe the high beam is disappointing, not sure, try and see?

Just wanted to give a little update. So I got this pig tail cable from @daveeasa for my 2021 TRD PRO came with bi-led headlights. I use the shutter wire to trigger my auxiliary lights with a switch. To bad the weather is not in favor to do a video. I will do a video explaining what I did in future. Wish @daveeasa have this cable available to purchase in the site because in my books this is a fantastic piece for those who have bi-leds with pathetic high beam.
