    I'm still waiting for electric start, water-cooled, six-speed DR650. Just kidding. They should never change it...well, a six-speed would be nice.

    I think the DR/DR-Z are the 4Runner equivalents of the motorcycle world.

    Even if they revise the gear ratios so 5th is useable at 80 mph, having only 5 gears is retarded. I can probably count on one hand the number of bikes with 5 speed gearboxes and they are all dino-fucking-saurs that used to be hot shit in the dual sport market 20 years ago. KLR, DR, DRZ, XRL. I think that's it. Revising the DRZ and not giving it a 6th gear; they may as well not have bothered.

    And I say that loving all those old tech enduros and having owned several KLRs, DRs, and a DRZ.

    I share your heartbreak.

    The other problem is 1st gear being a little too tall for technical trails. At least for my preferred speed.
