Opening rear hatch window. This was a big factor in my buying decision.
    Exterior cameras.
    V6. I’ve owned 4’s, inline 6’s, and V8’s, but never a V6.
    Hood bulge.
Keyless ignition (I had push button start on a ‘58 Austin Healy, but there was still a key)
    Adaptive cruise control
    Automatic braking
    Lane departure alert
    Rear cross traffic alert
    LCD screen
    Navigation in the head unit
    Inverter
    Multiple 12v outlets
    KDSS
    A-Trac
    Multi terrain select/crawl control
    There are probably more.

I’m not saying I like all these things, but they are all firsts for me.

Many things that are different between my beloved 3rd Gen and 5th Gen.
    1. Paid in full the day I picked it up at the dealership.
    2. Seats - Heated fronts, reclining rears.
    3. Infotainment system.
    4. My 3rd gen only had locker on the rear, this one has all of the newer traction controls.
    5. More power, better ride than my 3rd gen and surprisingly still gets close to the same MPG.

Heated front seats and truly, the most inconvenient way to change the oil & filter.
Even the heavy equipment that I used to operate had simple ways to change the oil and filter.

I wanted to lift it but my wife is very short so the first thing we did was sliders that make for good steps.

Edit: wow I read this wrong and posted nonsense. Leaving it so ya'll can see how dumb I am.

That it is petrol powered. I have never owned a SUV this size that runs on petrol. All my previous SUVs were diesel.

First new vehicle! I looked at used ones, but with the resale value, it made buying new seem reasonable.

First heated seats. I didn't "need" this feature, but I won't be buying anything without them ever again. :D Unless, of course, it's a classic vehicle of some sort.

First vehicle ever that when I drive it I don't think "why didn't I spend more for that other Toyota model I was looking at". For me, this is the pinnacle of vehicles owned in my lifetime. And there have been a bunch.

I don't know if this can be called a "first", but it's what upsets me and disappoints me most about giving up my beloved 2006 Tundra SR5 Double Cab TRD 4WD to have been able to make way for my 2022 4RUNNER SR5 Premium 4WD: That being- my '22 T4R does not have a factory CD player. My '06 TUNDRA had an awesome factory 6 disc CD player incorporated right in to the stereo system. The T4R- no CD player offered what so ever. I miss being able to play my CDs in my T4R while I'm driving.

Prior to buying this '22 T4R, my previous 7 or 8 vehicles all had great stereos with factory built in CD players. POOEY! So, in a sense, this is a first for me on my T4R to NOT have a CD player in my vehicle, seeing as so many of my previous vehicles had CD players. They call this progress?

Yeah I admit it- I'm an old fogey dinosaur. And so I do appreciate all the rest of the other "old schoolness" of my 5th gen T4R. .....not going to be tempted in the least by the new 6th gen.

No one ever mentions this, but it seems the 2019 was the last year of the CD player in the audio system. I still use it, not as much as I would like, but am glad to have it. An additional benefit to also not having all the post 2020 safety nannies. :crapstorm:

Wow! So 2019s still had CD players hey? I did not realize that. Interesting. Dang, I wonder if I should trade down (up????) to a ‘19 model!? Ha ha! I’d probably be very hard pressed to find a low mileage / mint ‘19 model for sale.

Toyota seems to always be a little behind the times with their car stereos. My '03 had a tape deck!

Oh yeah- I neglected to mention- My 2006 Tundra factory stereo ALSO included a cassette deck in with the unit! Crazy! Now that cassette deck- I rarely ever used it! Lol. I did some when I first bought the truck.

    2019 4Runner TRDORP
First 4WD - wanted one forever. First SUV. Wanted a 4Runner ever since I saw my first in 1984 or 85. Various roadblocks along the way prevented it.

I have had 17 or 18 vehicles over the years, some I liked, a few I hated, and about four that I really liked. For me, my T4R is the top of all of them based on how much I like it.

My 4runner is in top spot too. Second was my 99 Honda Accord 4cyl VTEC (yo). Third was a 06 Sienna 8-seater (for insane levels of reliable utility).

Wanted my favorite to be a 2000 Protoge5 hatch because it felt so good on the road, but that thing was a pile of crap all around, huge rust bubbles on the sheet steel, subframes, and components by the time it was 4 years old, and nasty clutch chatter before it even hit 10,000 miles.

My 4runner hasn’t been perfect (transfer case at 50k miles), and the accord wasn’t either (automatic transmission at 140k miles). But both just do what they do in excellent ways.
