greetings, new guy here. I have a weird issue with the defroster on 1994 4runner. I have the FSM and gone thru that but, it gets power all the way down to the mercury switch I guess, but nothing to the heating wires. THere are no breaks in the wires, either in back glass or side glass.
I pulled all fuses that might be suspect. Im not sure what relays are involved and hadn't considered them though I'm sure there must be relays involved due to higher current. I dont know which ones to check.
The thing is, it did function then stopped. Everything else works fine. Defroster swithc works and is illuminated but naturally stops when tailgate or glass is down...I'm not sure but I think the issue is at the connector on the back glass at the bottom..and kills continuity from that point on but...maybe not. Its just weird.
    Help please lol

I cannot recall what it was I did but its possible it quit after replacing tailgate glass motor. I may have knocked something loose. I can't remember how I got the glass out last time I did that. Had a stroke so lots of info slipped away.
I suppose I could muddle my way throuigh it but hey, if someone has a slick trick to get the glass down enough to check the conneector on the bottom of the glass, while tailgate is down I'd appreciate that. Also, which relay(s) would I be focusing on, I know many serve dual purpose. I saw 3-4 behind the drivers kick panel but I can't get them out. Suppose removing that trim panel would be easier to service..or is that even the location of a relay issue area.

Sorry if my words arent quite making sense, or have a few typos...

With the tailgate open, rotate the latches on each side to the full closed position. That will allow you to raise and lower the window with the rear key or front switch with the tailgate down.
