Is it me, or is the hitch tube look like it's a bit short on my 2024 4Runner?
    Does that impact safe towing?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
From what I can see, you're totally fine. (This is sarcasm, in case you missed it. I can't see a thing, because you didn't post a picture!)

4Runners are growers not showers, because Japanese. Should've bought a Tacoma if you wanted a Mexican-sized hitch tube.

It does look short compared to other vehicles, but the observed length doesn't change it's tow rating.

Because I am lazy, what is the tow rating amount? Maximum tongue weight?
I use to have an anemic towing capacity 2006 Tacoma Prerunner Quad Cab with the V6 and 5 speed automatic tranny (Same as my 2024 4Runner)
Currently I have a 2016 Winnebago Minnie Winnie 22R that I am thinking of selling next year and give trailer towing a chance again.
I could go with a lightweight travel small travel trailer, my wife wants more bells and whistles and room to store more camping crap.
Either way, a shower and standard toilet are a must.

I resemble that answer! I am totally pleased with my choice of picking up a 2024 4Runner after owning a 2006 Tacoma Quad Cab PreRunner V6 short bed.

Just a thought, if the hitch receiver stuck out to far, it could decrease your departure angle.

It's a very short tube because there's a spare under there and people don't want a knee-busting phallus off the back of their SUV. The mounting is still plenty strong for the tow rating.

I believe he's referring to the amount that protrudes out the back. On my 2013 it was so shallow that my bike hitch rack (which fit fine on my previous Yukon), couldn't seat deep enough for the side engagement hole lock to line up. I actually had a local fab shop weld on a 2" extension which solved the problem.

The 4Runner towing capacity is 5,000lbs.
The v6 Tacoma towing capacity is 3,500lbs.
The v6 Tacoma /w tow package is 6,500lbs.
Tongue weight is typically about 10% of towing capacity.
