Any thoughts on how to do either of these? Not sure how crazy it would get to try and tap into the wiring in the seat but don’t want to get too wild. Basically for peace of mind camping way out there i like to be able to pop into the front seat and drive off. But I also chill out in the rear drivers side before bed.

I think the rear door is probably a known solved problem but don’t want to get too crazy like drilling holes or installing levers there.

There’s a kit online that lets you install a button/switch to open your rear hatch from the inside but you have to drill a hole for the switch

Good question on the front seat adjustment. I sleep on the driver’s side, and I need full use of the footwell area behind the front seat to sit up in the morning. I hate when I forget to slide the drivers seat forward!

But more to your point, the drivers seat is useless when fully forward…so I’d be screwed if I had to bail out of an area and I can’t/don’t want to exit the vehicle. It would be nice to have the option of rolling that seat backwards from inside. I’d hate for a bear to take a bite size snack out of me because I was outside patiently waiting for the seat to move far enough back to get in lol.

I suppose somebody with electrical knowledge can figure out how to tap into the seat wiring to make a remote adjustment buttons. Barring that, it might be easiest and most reliable to make some sort of stick with an end that will allow you to reach/manipulate the buttons from the back seat, and keep that stick accessible for easy use. It’s not necessarily a fancy sounding mod, but a long stick to reach things is proven technology when it matters most.

I always got a kick seeing cosmonauts tightly strapped down, and using a stick to reach all the buttons. When the other option is to spend billions designing a new vehicle with easy to access buttons in every flight situation…then yeah, a stick makes sense lol

Based on a wiring diagram I found and photos from eBay listings I think I would have to splice in to the wiring harness under the seat (blue and gray wires) and connect momentary switches to each to be able to move forward and back. The other side of the switches go to ground (maybe on a seat screw or also splice in for this). Lol my main worry is bears also I know they like to shatter windows if you give them a space to get their claws in. Need that ventilation though !I realize they almost will never try to get into an occupied vehicle but better to be able to drive off immediately if I need to ….

Ultimately though I will probably look for some elastic band that holds tight to the switch that I can attach a yardstick or something to. I already keep a stick so I can press down the brake and start the car from the back (for heater purposes)

A simple two wire tap with momentary switch to the door ECU will get the hatch open. There's a member that sells a kit, if you don't want to DIY. Search the forum thread titles for for "Ultimate camping mod"...
