Backup 5th Gen Spare Key

What’s the best option. My 4R only came with one key I’ve already misplaced too many times. lol.
What’s the best option? Close to a dealer but wasn’t sure easiest and cheapest way. I want one that will start the car etc.

See if this is a cheaper option. Buy an oem one from here and have a locksmith program it for you.

 

Did you purchase Gold extended service plan, or extended warranty. Did you buy an alarm system dealer installed?
Free replacement of lost keys , I believe.
My daughter had same issue , got a free key.
Can you retroactively purchase for a used car -CPO- vehicle? Read all the fine print about what is included.

 

What is the process for programming the key? Is the key disassembled and the circuit board plugged into a laptop? Or is the car hooked up to a laptop and programmed to accept the new key? Or what?

 

Car is programmed to accept the code from the key. Key does not come apart for the procedure.
