The Ursa Minor replaces the factory top though so you aren't destroying a vehicle by installing it. IIRC it's also in the 10k range.

I forgot to add: I've never really been a Jeep fan, but if I were to have a roof like this that I could stand in with a bed platform, I'd do it on a Jeep instead of a 4Runner. I'd take the loss in vehicle reliability for the benefit of having a vehicle that already comes with a removable roof as standard. Dan Grec, from "The road chose me" uses Jeeps with these pop-up conversions to travel the world.

Seeing what he does really takes a bite out of the whole "Jeeps are unreliable for overlanding" argument.

Jedi nailed it right there. I can see doing a mod like this if you were a travel blogger and wanted to trim down your load out for hauling around multiple countries. That’s why I mentioned I don’t see this buisiness growing. You may sell a few here and there but you definitely won’t be starting a cult following like the VW camper VAN. Come see me in 5-10 years maybe I will be wrong. If it’s your daily driver or weekend warrior / vacation vehicle. A trailer or ground tent will probably be more comfortable.

It's a lot of money. But if I spent a huge amount of time living in my 4R I might spring for it. Currently I am planning to build a sleeping platform for myself that will be high enough to store gear underneath. Headroom will be tough; but I really like the ability to crawl into the back and get some sleep without having to set up an external camp. I do quite a bit of dispersed camping and often I arrive late or move on early. My camping spots aren't intended so much to be comfortable as quick. This thing could sort of split the difference.
