If my memory is correct DT was around $55 for sensor from past posts.

This is what I do. I just bought another TPMS sensor from Discount Tire when I bought the fifth tire, worked fine for me. No issues.

Any pros/cons on using OEM or DT? I have both currently no problems. Same price I generally prefer OEM.

I would prefer OEM as well but have decided to buy from DT based on others here not having any problem with aftermarket. Makes it easier on me to just deal w DT on purchase and installation instead of two step process of buying OEM and going to DT to have installed.

Going to dealer for the solution is a non-starter for me. High price low service standard.

Would be nice to understand what model years we are talking about. My understanding is my 2018 won't accept an additional sensor.

I have a 21 and thought it was plug and play but incorrect requires adding it to ECU. Limiteds come with this from factory which is why I hoped just adding the TPMS would automatically display on the dash.

I think others have been successful with this and may have more details.

Do you need techstream? Would Carista be able to do it?

FYI..2018 OR...I added my spare (no TPMS) into the rotation and the tire monitoring did not care

Does that mean you added TPMS to your spare, and it now will register if low?

I added the TPMS to my spare on 21 and it does not register the spare on dash. Not worth the $ to have dealership program it for me.

With 5 wheel rotation and onboard air I am already more prepared than most regularly checking and using the spare.

To me, it is not worth the time and expense for the spare (TPMS sensor). If I ever need it, I will manually check the pressure. If if is low, I can add air since I have an air compressor installed.

I can certainly run without having the TPMS in the spare being read by the ECU, but am curious as to whether it will give me a warning light once it is added as one of the 4 on the ground if needed. Perhaps the system will continue to monitor the oem TPMS now in the spare location if that occurs.

I added a tpms to my spare just for the piece of mind knowing it has the correct air pressure if I need it. I do rotate 5 tires since adding a wheel to match the other 4. You shouldn't get a warning light as long as your truck sees 4 sensors.

I just bought a set of TRD ORP wheels for $800 with the stock GrandTrek tires on them. I'm unsure if TPMS sensors are on them. I am only planning on using 1 of the wheels and selling the rest. Anyone in the Denver area want a spare TRD ORP Wheel (rim and tire) for $200?

EDIT: Just started a new thread with this listing in 5th Gen Marketplace.
