Sorry to hear this bud. Are any of these guys willing to do a regional search for another unit without a sunroof?

Yeah, local dealer did a search. Said there was nothing.

Another local dealer has a couple of non-premium TRDs coming in that were rentals, asking price more than I paid for my premium new a year ago . I love my 4Runner but I am not going to do that.

Oooh! There's a "used" 2024 Toyota TDR at Mike Erdman Toyota in Cocoa Beach, FL with a whopping 36 miles on it.

    1. The one I found has a sunroof... not exactly what OP wants.
    2. It's pretty cool the way this entire bunch has teamed up to help OP find his new ride.

Yeah I agree good group of people here who love our 4Rs and trying to help. We need someone at a dealer who can search for units without sunroofs across the country. That seems like the biggest issue.

How much is the buyback price? It doesn’t even look that bad and is a pretty easy fix other than the million airbags that went off. Why did all of them go off from just a deer?

Buy back price is $17K. Initial repair estimate was $30K.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I waited 5 months to get a AG ORP w/o a sunroof, I finally gave up and bought one with.
The wife and I never used the one in her previous car and I know for sure a solid roof is unlikely to leak as the vehicle ages.

That’s crazy. Someone will tear all of the airbags out of it and make it a nice trail rig or send it overseas.

I am confused. This is a 2023 ORP has to be worth high $30s I would think. They are saying repairs will cost $30k.

I would search comparable used 2023 ORPs with similar mileage before I accepted their payout. Maybe I missing something here but I am confused.

Yikes, all that from a deer strike? It makes me think an ARB bumper might be the way to go. Would be a shame to have a write off from something like this.

Most companies will automatically write them off if the damages come to 70-80% of the vehicle value. The repair cost vs damage estimate is not the only factor as they will be considering time a rental vehicle will be provided, and likelihood of hidden damages which will only increase the repair bill.

The total payout will be almost what I paid for it a year ago. They will total a vehicle where the damage exceeds a certain percentage of value of the vehicle.

Some more pictures for fun. You can zoom in and see all the tree branch scratches that were there before the wreck :)

So sorry but glad youre ok. Some might think theyre overkill, but full steel bumper with headlight hoops helps save our babies!

Just talked to a reputable local body shop. Based on the pictures he said I should take the money and run. Thinks it will probably end up overseas. I’d have to do a half assed job fixing it to make it worth the money.

The search continues but I’m running out of gas. I feel sorry for you folks in the south, it looks like they add all kinds of BS to them on the window sticker.

I have to agree with you. When we bought our 2007 4Runner my father-in law told us the same. He’s a Toyota master technician since 1988. We went with the SR5 and loved it. At this time I needed the 3rd row and the SR5P was available with good discounts. Now I have the sunroof. Still don’t use it but my headroom is more than enough.

I think if I were desperate enough I'd go to my local dealer with a couple of $100 bills in my hand and say hey I need some help.

I would say can you help me find a SR5P or ORP anywhere in the United States without a moonroof and a color other than black with your system and get me in touch with that dealer ASAP. I think realistically that is the only way to get this to happen. Tell them obviously you are willing to pay them for them for their time and efforts (obviously everyone needs to make money).

Searching on the internet for a unit in general let alone w/o a moonroof is a needle in a haystack. The dealer managers can also get in touch with regional representatives also to find out what is available, what has a deposit etc. I think it has to be done old school and go sit down at someone's desk and spend some time one on one. Just my opinion though and obviously depends on how much effort you are willing to put in.

One other idea is to call Jeff Teague aka Toyota Jeff at Anderson Toyota in Raleigh NC. If anyone can find one and has enough connections in the business it’s him. It’s just getting a hold of him and willing pay for his time. He is a great dude.

Weird, I am 6"2 with a sunroof and have no issues... I run with the seat low, but headroom has never crossed my mind. Maybe I recline more. BTW, I'm East of Portland about 25 minutes, lol.

I tried to convince myself that I could live with my head touching the roof because it was so much easier finding one with a sunroof, but there is no way I could deal with that. I find it amazing how many people think it is impossible for somebody to
i am 6’4”. All torso. With the seat all the way down and tilted back uncomfortably, my hair touches the roof. If I sit upright it is uncomfortable. I like sunroofs, too. I have one in my Honda and it is fine, but in the 4Runner it’s a no go. If it would work for me I’d have been tempted to get a Pro or Limited but those all have sunroofs.

I remember driving the last gen Tacoma last year and wanting to like it. I am only 5’10 and the legroom was just so weird. The seat position was messed up which was a big comment from many apparently I could appreciate it. So I can appreciate the room issue with the roof and your height. You have to be comfortable in it for sure
