These geese are so insulated the snow doesn’t melt on there backs.

 

I'm always amazed watching migrating geese... knowing they're spending all day up there... several hours at sub zero temps.

Even watching squirrels outside in the winter I wonder... how is it even possible for those little guys to hang out in a tree for a week in January at 5°F? That's goddamn cold!

 

I must be growing soft in my old age - haha I've started keeping a bird feeder full and enjoy seeing everyone coming by and hanging out for a feeding specially like you say when it's 20 outside. Must be tough enough for them least I can do.

 

Wait until you get into the hummingbird feeders. That is if you have hummingbirds in your area. Like watching little fighter jets dogfighting in your back yard.

 

Check out the migratory path of the Ringneck. Looks like it prefers Washington state. I don’t blame them.

 

There’s like three hundred geese here visiting....

 

Many have been banded.

We had a few show up in our neighbors pond one day. My guess was the storms pushed them off course, not often seen around here especially in early January.

 

That was on April 12th, just keeping the post going and looking forward to what’s coming...

 

Common Loon in Spring plumage. Very rare in my area..

 

Cormorant visiting....I like how they are half submersed.

We’re having some beautiful sunrises...fowl hasn’t been migrating much...T4R is running better than new, with 305,000 miles I feel it’s finally “broken in”....

 

On my own dirt. First time I’ve seen someone sailing on our private lakes...

I had a visitor today. Not the FBI.
How these suckers survive all winter I will never know?

 

They a scavengers, they will eat just about anything.

 

I don’t feed wild animals. I thought it was kewl my neighbors put up bird feeders until they started pooping on my vehicles/boat....

 

This evening while hunting I had a flock of native songbirds come by. They were so small.....I can’t imagine what they look like without feathers...

 

The Buffleheads are back!!

 

I will ask the guy who built that dock and find out “how not to build it”lol
