What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

That's been the usual procedure since new.

I have one tire, LR, that's hit the nail lottery 3 times. DT says if it gets one more nail/screw/etc. it will need to be replaced...

 

On the lift today....
ECGS Bushing, oil change, dif fluids, txfr case fluid, auto trans drain/fill, anytime backup camera, 3d printed drawers, scratch repair, slider/rock light wiring start, spacer lift in the front (leveling).

 

I went with Infinity Reference in the dash and was so impressed with the sound, that I installed the Infinity Reference speakers in the doors. I am very happy with the results. I'm not an audiophile, and don't really hear as well as most people (I've been working on or around jets for about 35 years) but I noticed a huge difference over the stock speakers.

 

Same here - I ordered the Infinity Reference front door speaker replacements and will install those soon along with sound deadening on the doors.

 

Was that harness purchased recently? I’ve been wanting/waiting for awhile! Someday OldRed will have more!

 

Checked the air in both 4Runners tires today.

 

Going to get State Insp & Scam Emission test OBD done at friends garage, Another State "Tax" on a 11 month old vehicle W/ 5,140 sitting in my garage right now!!At least he'll do Cash deal for a lot less then normal price. I know my wife took her 1 yr old BMW for "Free" State insp only to have them charge her $60+ for Bull Emission's sticker! I'm not driving to dealership 30+ miles for that & have to wait when I can go across town <10 miles

 

My truck managed to survive the dealership's 12 month service (oil change and tire rotate). The service advisor guy even noted the tech said he appreciated the oil change door on my skid plate, so maybe he actually used it.

 

I took my last 4Runner 2018 for 1st free Oil change. As soon as I pulled out of service area on the lot I shut it down popped the hood & checked the dip stick after reading the horror stories on FJ forum when I owned them.

 

The service advisor walked out with me to my truck and I said don't take this the wrong way, but let me check something first. I got down on the ground and made sure my RCI skid plate was still there, then popped the hood and checked the oil level. He actually laughed and said "Don't blame you, but our techs are actually good. And that's a good looking truck."

 

I bought my harness when he first put them out. Just had to wait my turn in line to get it all installed.

 

Man do I suck at doing windshield cleaning!!!!

 

Hopefully they didn’t strip out the bolts holding the oil door on .

We put a thousand miles on over the weekend, visiting friends, eating well, and breaking clays.

 

It is...except the buttons don't work. Re-installed the factory board and emailed and going to see what they say.

Looks like they did make a board that didn't work for 4runners. Might be whats going on here.

 

I contacted Meso Customs about that control for mine because their web site didn't specifically list compatibility for the '24 model year. I got a response saying that the replacement control isn't compatible with my '24 [because something in the OE wiring harness was different from previous years].

I don't know at what point the compatibility changed, but I do see this message on their web site: "5TH GEN 4RUNNERS(2010-2023) - SOME MODEL/TRIMS ARE NOT APPLICABLE, WE ARE CURRENTLY TESTING THIS PLATFORM."

 

Oh wow! Yeah website says tacoma tundra. And my order from June says the same. I was initially using a keanwood floating head unit with a maestro, and the maestro fixed the buttons.

I think past me bought the meso thing just for the button. But now I switched to a Dasaita which doesn't use a maestro...

proper wiring to get some amps to the trunk mounted air compressor... (I know you guys like it under the hood, but that does not work when you live in the desert - it must kept inside).

 

Looking good. Can I ask for a picture of your switches? I see you've added some and moved some around.

 

To be honest, I got it wired this way already. But from what I've seen, these are easily interchangeable. I have already ordered a matching button with air compressor logo to wire the relay to power up this air compressor (and fill out the last and final blank spot next to the brightness adjustment gauge).

 

Looks clean. They also have these same style buttons but with two buttons in 1 slot.

 

I also installed in the rear cargo area.

Man, I feel your pain. I am a bit OCD about this kind of stuff and could NEVER get rid of some areas inside that would show up in certain lighting conditions etc. Tried to figure out what the right cleaner to use etc. no luck. Then this past weekend my wife said she saw some thing on windshield cleaning on social media somewhere and told me about it.

Not sure I got the steps 100% right, but my 2018 windshield (inside) looks the best it ever has...

1. Wipe with liberal amount of rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth.
2. Dry/wipe with dry microfiber cloth.
3. Wipe with window cleaner on a microfiber cloth.
4. Wipe with dry microfiber cloth.

All of that said, the outside is pitted and 'sandblasted' all to hell. The joys of New England roads and winters.

 

I use a foam window cleaner in an aerosol can and a squeegee on the inside and once a month clay bar the outside.

 

Ahhh... Clay bar outside, good call.
