On October 3, I opened the phone app, which I do daily. An upgrade was available, so I clicked on the link. Google Play opened and said "This app isn't compatible with your device anymore."
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. Software is up to date, according to the phone.
Toyota app support said (this morning) that's correct, the update only works with Galaxy 10 and 11.
I'm not getting another phone for this stupid app.

Does anyone any ideas on a work around?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Can you roll back the software for the app and roll it back to make it work? I found that app to be pretty useless, but I know some people like it to remote start their truck or to manage maintenance and stuff.

The only other option is to upgrade your cell phone.

I'm surprised anything works on a S8. Just get a new phone. That thing stopped receiving even security updates long ago. You could flash android 14 but i doubt it'll run very well

It sounds like the app didn’t update, can you still use it?

Does it now require a version of Android higher than yours?

Sounds like it does, GSMArena says your phone only got up to Android 9, that’s a ways behind and sounds like it got dumped early to me but it varies widely even in Samsung’s lineup. (carriers can meddle too)

Technology sucks! Can't get my iPhone to give me verbal instructions for directions with my 4runner. Other than that, life is good!

You have to turn up the radio volume, as Siri is verbalizing the directions. Adjusting the volume at any other time only turns up the radio.
