What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Just to have extra laying around in case I need in the future.

 

I check my spare before every road trip out of town.

 

Diff oil for the differentials and transfer case.

Process is you drain, then fill until it's overflowing. And replace all your washers and torque to spec.

 

You can add a tpms to your spare. I added a 5th to rotate with my other 4.

 

Need to add a TPMS to my spare, sure would make life easier.

 

It shows up on the display?

 

I like that elevation better. I need to move my up it takes up to much space where it is.

 

The dealer has the software to add it to the display.

 

Drove it to play golf with my youngest son as he was out of school for Columbus Day.

Can't wait for my new Falken Rubitrek tires to arrive from Discount. The ones on the 4Runner now are pretty warped on the front and makes for some bumpy rides.

 

Yes. I went to Bam wholesale and got a price, my dealer matched it and charged me $62 to program it. The extra wheel shows up on the guage cluster but not on the app.

 

Nice, just need to program the TPMS or is there updated software like someone mentioned?

 

Just programming. Took them about 15 minutes. Every dealer in St. Louis was $180 just for the sensor, I purchased a wheel to match the other 4, a sensor and programming all for under $300.

 

How is the lens/tail light clear cover attached? Is it possibly glued together at the factory such that you can stick it in the oven to soften the glue and then pry apart instead of dremel-ing? Asking because I baked my headlights when I had my Tundra and did a similar black-out mod.

 

I upgraded my non-JBL dash speakers last weekend. It was a big improvement and allowed me to tweak the EQ for a much fuller overall sound. This got me thinking about replacing the front door speakers. Does anyone have suggestions for a good front door speaker for my factory, non-JBL system?

 

They're not like the headlights, they have to be cut open unfortunately. I didn't cut between the lens and back cover to avoid any mess ups, I cut the back cover only just along the edge.

 

drove up to delaware water gap for a backpacking trip with my friend. i havent been up there since i was a kid. very cool place. great hike, found a killer campsite, too. im wiped out haha.

What "EQ" do you speak of with such admiration?

 

LOL, well such as it is, I was able to adjust the bass/mids/treble on the stock head unit to achieve a better balanced and more musically pleasing sound. I'll bet there are some out there with much nicer sound systems who can fine tune quite a bit more than I can on my stock head unit.

 

Installed sylvania silverstar ultra h11, hope that helps me to be able to see at night versus as best I can tell from the markings Phillips h11 they replaced.

Funny enough I somehow ended up with a second new sealed pack of the ultras if anyone needs a good deal on a set. Don’t remember buying them but they were in my install drawer waiting.

 

Added a new front rider with me until November 1.

 

I just installed them same bulbs hoping for an improvement over the ones I took out (brand unknown). Might have to start looking for some LED replacement lights.

Replaced some skid plate bolts.

Installed the Meso Customs thing to make the volume button up and down and seek right and left.

 

I'm jealous of all you 2020+ (I think) guys whose individual tire TPMS values show on the dash instead of one tire icon idiot light. I bought a matching spare with TPMS from another member, but am not sure I can get the 5th one to be monitored or not.

 

If you're OCD the 2020+ kinda sucks because you'll constantly be reminded that all four tires are almost always not at the same pressure.

Sun shining on the drivers side? Those tires will be 2-3lbs higher than the passenger side after about five minutes. 30 seconds later all 4 tires will show a different number.

Check pressures with a gauge when cold. And then forget about it unless your light turns on.

2016 owner here... is this a stock steering wheel? My volume up/down is where your phone controls are (horrible location). I am wondering if this is somehow "upgradeable", especially that I am using custom key mapping anyways with my aftermarket radio? What is Meso Customs offering there? I went thru their page but all the stuff they have is out of stock and I found nothing for steering wheel except for some trim pieces...

 

I wish the bros with Carolina lifted Chevys would abide with this.
