The weather is finally cooling off, and I finally have time to do some work to my 4R. I am installing raptor lights(cringe I know, lol), PRO grill, Morimoto fog lights, and I ordered some black valances. The valances I got, look like crap, and feel real flimsy. So I am thinking about just spray painting mine. I have enough experience for the prep and the painting, but I don't know which paint I should go for. Anyone got some suggestions?RNR2.jpg

if you are going to spray them, plastidip seems to be the majority's recommendation. Others have done a vinyl wrap.

I just replaced mine with Yota Xpedition brand. What aftermarket brand did you buy?

They were claimed to be Yota Xpedition ones, I bought them off a 4Runner facebook group. When they showed up, they are in a blank box, with no instructions, and chinese kanji on the boxes. So, I got scammed. But I only paid $130

maybe they are Yota X brand. Mine came in a plain box with no instructions and they are definitely more flimsy than OEM. if you decide to give the install a try hit me up and i'll share some subtle lessons learned. they ended up looking pretty good on mine.

For some reason, the silver valances on any other color 4R but silver or MGM look so out of place, and remind me of

I’d like to slap the Japanese designer who thought it was a great idea to put those silver things on every OR and ORP color .

Don’t use plastic dip if you plan to drive the vehicle. Absolute garbage.

I painted my front chrome pieces and with every day driving the bugs/splatter or other debris basically chip away. And yes, I layered and layered this stuff on.

I think the guy who initially ordered the valances from a vendor had a computer where the "0" key stuck. He was supposed to order 40,000 silver, but ordered 40,000,000. They've been trying to use them up ever since...

How does plasti-dip hold up to a stiff brush when scrubbing off bugs?

I want to paint or dip my license plate frames. Not sure which way to go.

I've never used it.... I was just commenting on what seemed to be a popular approach.

I've painted several things on my 4Runner and other vehicles with Krylon Fusion in matte black. The match is perfect color and texture wise, and it lasts a long time. The bond between paint and surface is supposed to be five times stronger than other paints.
