    Hi All,

I am thinking of purchasing a 2013 4Runner Trail. The car has some rust underneath but wanted your opinion if this is normal and acceptable or if I should stay away. It was up north earlier in its life and has been in FL for the last 8 years or so. I plan on using it mostly in FL.

    Thank youIMG_0033.jpg IMG_0029.jpg IMG_0026.jpg IMG_0031.jpg

    Welcome to the forum!

Based on the photos provided that rust looks pretty minor to me.

My completely unprofessional opinion is some TLC oughta take care of that. I’ll defer to others on whether it indicates anything more insidious.

Of course, it’s a sliding scale of price versus condition, equipment, your favorite color, etc. so those will be a factor.

All good. Wouldn't worry about that at all.

That rust is nothing. There's more rust on some of the old timers on this site!

I think that for 11 years old truck it's an very good condition, almost no rust.

FWIW, I have a 50K miles, 2013 Trail in California. No salt exposure or seawater. I wash mud off of it regularly, and it doesn't look much different that your photos.

    Mall crawling kit.
That is almost pristine. Spray it with Krown and call it done.

That looks pretty nice to me! The only other area I would check before handing over the cash is the crossmember under the radiator, where the front tow loops are.

The early 5th gen Trails are rarer than hen’s teeth around here. The nicest classic looking 4runner, probably out any generation IMO.

That is one of the cleanest ones this forum has seen for a 11 year old vehicle.
Scrape the rust with a wire brush, fluid film it, you are set.

From a scale of 1 to 100, with 100 being brand new 4Runner and 1 being on the bottom of the ocean for 12 years, I rate the one you show a 93. Nothing to worry about. I would buy that all day everyday.

My 2013 when I traded it in had more than that, and I live in NC where they brine the roads. That to me is basically cosmetic. Pick your undercarriage treatment of choice and apply (I personally used Waxoyl Hardwax Plus).

@Atam27 - looks like the PO, or the 4Runner, fled the northland prior to it rusting out. Have you picked it up yet?
