Looking to get a new skid plate for my black 2018 Trd off road (w/KDSS), and want to get unfinished aluminum to go with the silver valances. Currently between RCI & LFD Off Road, wondering if anyone has any input on the finish quality of these or possibly any other recommendations?

Have an RCI engine and transmission skid (with the cat guards) in raw aluminum, the quality is excellent. NOTE: The plastic "trash catcher" as I call it, coming from the bumper to the existing skid does not fit once you switch to an RCI skid. But they sell a bumper filler (metal) that mates up to it.

Full RCI aluminum skids with filler plate I am happy with.

I have aluminum RCI skids for everything besides the engine skid plate. My reasoning is the engine skid plate being the first one to hit an obstacle will get more abuse.

I had the RCI aluminum skid on my 2019 OR with KDSS for a while, and was able to reuse the plastic filler piece. While not designed as such, the back edge did wedge between the front edge of the skid plate and the cross member without too much trouble. I did eventually get the RCI filler plate.

Had RCI aluminum skids, no issues with quality. Snapped welds due to rock impacts. Now have RCI skids in steel

You might want to check out the offerings of Talons Garage. This is a photo posted by @GrimJeeper91 of the Talons KDSS skids on his 4R:

Their engine skid is comprised of the two pieces that cover back to the area around the middle of the LCAs. They replace the two oem skid pieces. Be advised, though, the photos on the Talons website may or may not match the photo above. The skid has been updated but the website not, last I checked.

Edit: I contacted Talons Garage, and the rep mentioned you can look at the engine skid for a GX460, as that is what the KDSS skid for the 4Runner looks like, which matches the photo above.

In looking at the photo, it appears one can reuse the oem plastic bumper/skid filler piece.
