Wow. Can you please elaborate on this comment? Seems like a sour post. I've owned a lot of cars in my life and in my immediate family we own 4 4Runners and a total of 6 including my nephews. This is an amazing car. Yes all cars have issues, there are too many points of failure and too many people involved in the build for there not to be issues.

There’s always exceptions, but anyone who’s overly critical of the quality on Gen5 4Runners should immediately go test drive a Gen4 Tacoma for comparison. Then feel free to apologize to the rest of us here…we’ll forgive you.

Side by side, the Gen5 4R also seems to be of a higher quality than the LC250’s. It’s those awkward comparisons might be why Toyota is eager to get the old 4R’s off the dealer lots asap.

Personal opinion inserted here…but I’ll predict that in 10-15 years, the Gen5 4Runner will hold a similar reputation relative to that of the 80-series LC.

Same as FZJ80, UZJ100, etc. Some of them just stuck. I hear "Love the 100" all the time. But no one has ever said - referring to my '84 Pickup - "Sweet 56".
