If you have a 5th gen 4Runner and have already lifted or intend to lift it, I highly recommend you replace the needle bearing in the front driver side axle where it goes into the front differential.

This is because the needle bearing used will go bad if you lift the vehicle, and it will need to be replaced. This is not an issue on the passenger side, as a ball bearing style insert is used and it does not suffer the same issue as the needle bearing.

East Coast Gear Supply sells a solid bushing to replace the needle bearing, along with the tools for removing the needle bearing and installing the new bushing.

You can buy the tools from ECGS for $75.00 plus shipping. Here is why you may want to consider buying my tools:

1st - The removal tool can be very difficult to install as it is delivered. This is because the the edges on the tool are squared off and it is really tricky to get the puller part of the tool completely into the differential. The one side of the extraction tool is placed into the bottom of the axle hole going into the differential using a magnetic tool, and then with the magnetic tool you tilt the top half into place. This is because the tool is the exact size as the needle bearing.

With the top edge of the extraction tool ground down, the installation of the tool is easy. Below is a picture of the ground edge.

The second reason you may want to consider my tools is that installation tool has a better striking surface. This is because my friend slid one of my sockets over the tool and it is now permanently affixed to the striking too. You can see the extension in the picture above.

I will sell the tools for $65.00 plus shipping. That is $10.00 cheaper than ECGS. You will the two tools and the extraction tool will be modified to make the job much easier. Then you will only have to buy the bushing from ECGS. The bushing from ECGS is $60.00.

If you are interested in the tools, just start a conversation with me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was not aware I could edit the title. Have added sold to the title.
