Before the 4Runner, I owned 4 Tacomas and 4 Tundras in a row. I traded in my last Tundra on the 4Runner because my dogs are getting older and it was a good way to take them with me on the road. Plus, it fit in my garage. 3 years later, I really missed having a pickup truck and got sick of always borrowing my wife's Silverado. I would have bought a new Tundra but I hate the new platform and could never do a hybrid. I actually looked for a low mileage used 3rd Gen Tundra Pro but couldn't find one to my liking. So... I bought the Raptor on impulse and hated it almost immediately because of the technology overload. It is fun as hell, but it's pure video game. 100% software driven digital driving experience. I was going to go buy a new GX550 to replace the Raptor but discovered the GX is every bit as bad with the intrusive technology. I'm so happy I managed to find one of the last 5th gen 4Runner ORPs. I learned a valuable lesson here. You want to buy a like-new Raptor by any chance?

I traded my 21 Off Road Premium on a new Yukon XL so I can fit 3 car seats comfortably. The Yukon is really nice to have, but I really wish I could have kept both.

I guarantee 99 percent of kdss owners don’t even know where their accumulator is yet alone cleaned theirs. I had a kdss 4Runner and when it was almost brand new I did a fire road trip when it was raining got home and took the skid plate off (accumulator skid plate) the wires are exposed and were caked in mud) I hate to see what most peoples look like

KDSS-fanboy here. It's a benefit for every mile driven. If it stops working 100k miles after purchase, so what. If it lasts 200k miles, all the better.

    I agree.

It would be nice if Toyota would mention it somewhere in the manual. A small amount of maintenance can really improve your odds of not having a failure. It seems like it would be in their best interest to make customers aware of it.

I still enjoy having it, as well. The only real downside for me has been the reduced clearance at the front skid.

~123K miles of hard use, and mine is still fine. If it fails, I'll just delete the sway bars. Hopefully by then, it won't be my main daily driver anymore.
