1st post here guys, so go easy. I bought a slightly used 2022 SR5 with a 3rd row for my wife a couple of years ago. It was right during Covid when the prices were the highest. ‍♂️ I took it to a custom shop soon after and had a 2”suspension lift, 33” tires, roof rack and blacked-out trim all done. She loves it and so do I. It currently has just shy of 20k miles. Well, evidently today she decided to leave a can of OFF spray laying in the seat and melted an area approximately dead-center on the seat cover (passenger side) about the size of a dime. It looks like hell, and just wanted some input on what you guys would do. I’m currently at work, so I’ll try and post some pictures after a bit. It has Softex covers. (I think that’s what they are called)

Not that big of a deal . There’s been no change in seats from 22 to 24 . Order a new cover from the dealer and either put it on yourself or have an upholstery shop put it on .

Did it just damage the cover? If it only damaged the cover, you can either take it to an upholstery shop, buy a new seat cover and install it yourself, or get a seat cover just for the bottom cushion. You can't place a cover on the seat back as it is equipped with side airbags.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Divorce her. That's what I'd do. Sounds like you have a very solid case. You'll definitely get 4Runner in the settlement.

Or you can stay married to her, and every time she brings up something wrong you did, you can retort "OH yeah! What about the time you RUINED the leather seat in my beloved 4Runner!?!?!"

Get the part number and order it from Bamwholesale .Factory part but a lot cheaper than just buying it from your local dealers parts department.

This is why I don't use insect repellent on the trail. It doesn't play nice with synthetics. Another vote for OEM replacement.

Runner is ruined, might as well give it away as the resale value just plummeted.

looks like a great reason to get some seat covers.

    He could also do this:

Every time his wife gets out of the truck, he can yell out "Damn baby, you farted so bad this time it burned the seat!" He has to yell it loud enough for everyone to hear it. You know, to shame her.

Can't deny... a fart joke was the first thing that came to my mind.

    - - - -

I'd visit the local upholstery shop -- that may be fixable, rather than having to replace it.

Tell her it’s $2500 to repair. Keep the excess for fun stuff. If she complains about the cost to repair, tell her, “Less bitchin’, more kitchen”.

Yea not so much for me. Citronella candles or one of the electronic repellants. Imo putting OFF or sunscreen on your skin is a health risk.

Welcome. That's not bad at all. I did worse to my step father's exploder leather seats when i smoked. But as George Costanza says, " you have hand!"
